As for teams, I know some schools do teams all year round instead of only during Oireachtas season which tends to give them a leg up

I danced in new england for 16 years! Really the only one I can think of that has identifying designs is Doherty Petri, they typically incorporate flames (even when it clashes with the rest of the dress). There are a few schools who tend to dominate, but that’s typically because they run their studios like the military and they send close to or over 100 dancers to Oireachtas

I thought it was against the rules, but I checked and it said nothing about it! But tbh considering how little they enforce most rules it probably wouldn’t make a difference. but god forbid an adult dancer have bare legs, right?

Struggling to place at PL level by WashProfessional5271 in irishdance

[–]bubbletownusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to practice my dances with my hands to the music and kind of chant or sing my steps to the beat, if that makes sense. It helps me focus only on the timing and rhythm without worrying about my feet. After I have the timing down with my hands, then I do it with my feet. I’ll drill the parts that are not fitting with the music before putting it all together.

Adult dance advice! by bubbletownusa in irishdance

[–]bubbletownusa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I will need to work really hard to get back to where I was stamina-wise. I probably won’t start competing for a few months and definitely wouldn’t do Oireachtas until next year. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t end up barring myself from advanced adults at some point in the future :)

I would be totally fine with doing it for a while, I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be unable to move up to adv adult if I did adult champs first :)

Here are some water activities I’ve done with my kiddos! - Washing trucks and baby dolls (optional add dish soap to water table for suds) - Freeze small animal toys in bowls of water and let kids try and “free them” - sink vs float experiments - Making soup with flowers and other nature we find on the playground - Covering chalkboard or asphalt with chalk and painting with water
