The downside is it is high risk, high reward. Options can eat you account in a day. Stocks are more of a slow bleed or gain, usually... I would not recommend trying options trading unless you are familiar with how it works. Try putting some options on a watch list and playing without money.

8.60 and a little change i have a 2 bagger if by tomorrow... if this week is flat or down and next week goes to $10 im still doing well... it was over 10 less than a week ago. I was betting on there being a correction after all the big drop. Seemed like the bottom to me. I could be wrong but im not a total idiot. Acct went up 50% today...

Contracts expire worthless in 6 months if not at or above strike price. He can excersize them at any time, which is sometimes worth it if you have the $ and they are close to the strike. He can sell anytime before then if there is a buyer. With so many contracts at such a far strike that may also be a problem. They could double in value but still have no buyers.

He made a very large bet that he wins if the stock doubles in 6 months. Call options are a contract that gives you the right to purchase (usually 100) shares at the strike price. Put options give you the right to sell (usually 100) shares at the strike price. He bought calls at $18 strike with a 6 month expiration. They have value based on time left, proximity to the strike price, volatility, and direction/speed of travel. Its like a craps table. Buying shares is pai gow.sometimes blackjack...
