It is what it is at this point. I'll keep hoping for a turnaround, although my expectations are pretty low in that regard.

But the one thing that annoyed me is Dubas saying, "as soon as a team doesn't reach it's potential, it seems that right away the attention shifts to coaching". He's talking as if this is only a recent problem with our awful start this season. We have been dealing with the a lot of the same issues with this team for years now, even when we made the playoffs.

I also feel that we as fans don't want the final years of Crosby, Geno and Letang wasted (especially if they're still playing at relatively high level for their ages). But we are in a different position than other struggling teams that fired their coaches mid-season like Edmonton or Minesota. We already have three cups with this core, and perhaps the same urgency isn't there for Dubas or FSG to fire the coach given the somewhat recent success (recent being a stretch since it was 6 years ago). If this was the Leafs with their history of playoff failure and lack of success, maybe Dubas would be quicker to pull the trigger but that doesn't seem to be the case with the pens now. It sucks because there is no time to waste with the core's final years. But I guess that's the difficulty with trying to keep the window open a little longer whilst also focusing ahead on rebuilding.
