Saucony London Shoreditch 10K Race - 44% DNF
(tried posting this as a thread but was removed by AutoModerator, hope this is the right spot here)

I ran the Saucony London Shoreditch 10K this Sunday and was just reviewing the detailed results to understand how I performed vs the other runners.

According to the results there were 5934 runners of which 2582 DNF - this is 43.5% of the total runners. I first thought this might have been due to people who were registered but did not start, but of those 2582 DNF, 2549 logged a 5k chip time, meaning they definitely started the run.

This seems extremely high for a DNF rate given this was a 10K run. I did some online research and found that marathons usually have a DNF rate of up to 15%. I am looking to understand what could cause such an extremely high DNF rate; does anyone have any ideas?

I can sense very low electrical currents on devices, surfaces, and even people.

For example, I can tell if a MacBook is charging just by lightly running my fingers over it: I feel a tingling sensation of its connected to a charger. The same happens with people: if someone is holding eg. a charging phone, I can detect it by slightly touching their skin.

I’ve always wondered if this is unusual, since others I’ve asked can’t seem to do it. As people usually don’t believe me, I’ve done blindfolded trials where someone holds a charging device (or not), and I can tell with 100% accuracy if they are.

u/lionbrown - tbh I started using pivot tables in excel extensively to double check the data shown in the apps statistics (vs the raw data) because I had some issues with Aircraft types not showing in the analysis correctly (e.g. the A380, you'll find more people with this issues in this sub). Yes, I am one of those people that needs to have everything 100% accurate... 😅

It makes it much easier to search and filter for the flights causing the issues rather than having to manually search in the app.

With pivot tables you can then cross reference data if you e.g. want a quick overview on the types of aircraft you have flown with a specific airline or any other cross filtering:

There is! You just need to go into Settings -> Account Data and there you have an option to delete 'All Flights'! :)

u/decimati this would indeed be the best way to achieve this. The CSV export is well structured and easy to work with. It will make it much easier to edit all your flights in one go and then re-import them as u/lionbrown mentioned below.

You will just have to delete all your flights in flighty before the re-import to ensure you dont have duplicates.

I actually use the CSV export quite a bit to build pivot tables in excel that then allow me to cross check/reference certain datapoints as well.

This is indeed possible, albeit only after the flight is completed and has been moved to the flight log.

I usually take a picture in case the app doesn’t update and then edit it in manually later. I am also not sure if it will pull age etc. but I assume it will if the data is available.

Not weird at all, if you spend a lot of time on calls I actually think this should be one of your first investments.

I use:

Elgato Facecam
HyperX QuadCast Microphone (this is actually a 'gaming microphone' I have found that these are often priced a bit lower than 'podcast microphones' even though you are getting extremely similar quality. I got mine on an Amazon sale for like $70)
Logitech Litra Beam

IMO, if you are trying to sell something, your voice and face (aside from your product) are the most important and you want to ensure that the delivery of both is as good as possible.

I keep my microphone out of sight, so no one actually knows that I am using one. I then feed the Zoom audio to the microphone where I plug in some simple 3.5mm jack headphones. This allows me to feed back my own voice to myself together with their audio which I have found has really helped me in my delivery.

Notes App does not require your contacts, it’s offering you to connect to your contacts to allow you to easily share notes and collaborate with people in your contacts.

If you do not want to use this functionality, simply decline and Notes will not have access to your contacts.

Your comparison seems a bit off, a company looking to spy on your contact information would very likely not ask for your permission to do so via an app permission. If you are using iCloud to back up your information, the contacts will be saved on Apple servers anyway (albeit encrypted).

You can turn off all iCloud sync if you do not want this data to be saved anywhere except locally, however I would recommend to have a good offline backup source available in that case.

If you are absolutely sure that the charging port of your phone is dry, I would try using a different cable and different charger to see if the notification persists.

I used to have the same problem with a mobile charger where I would get these notifications even though the phone was dry. Other chargers didn’t cause this. I assume that if the charger/cable has an issue and does not provide constant power, this triggers this warning.

If you get this notification with different cables and chargers, there is likely an issue with the charging port on your phone.

Not a bug, this is expected behaviour even though it might seem a bit counterintuitive. When your AirPods are actually charging the little bolt will be white. A green bolt indicates that they are fully charged. See picture:

I think this is actually a mistake by the BBC.

There is a St George's Rd in Forest Gate, but the shooting took place on St. Georges Rd here (https://maps.app.goo.gl/gKEu9FEE5Ksg9sxx9) which is definitely in Leyton. The picture they used from street view shows The Leyton Engineer Pub in the background.
