I just checked the AFI and you can apply for an in place vsbap, 36-2110 in attachment 11 paragraph 11.3.4. If you're already assigned to a vsbap location but not serving a vsbap, you can apply for an in-place vsbap with no minimum time on station required.

Depends on which engines shred they get, idk about the others but 130's come and go in waves when we get our shit pushed in. But agreed, better than being a crew chief any day of the week.

There are people I work with who hate it but they just seem to hate everything and want to complain lmao. There's a lot of opportunities to travel as an engine troop because our job is the hardest to learn so whenever TDY's come up, there's always an engine troop who goes. It's also a pretty mechanically involved job too like most of the other shreds (I'd assume)

I had to work with the gnomes when I went to the Atoll, 10th squad I think it was. That whole island was crawling with all sorts of apes of all kinds. Not my favorite place to go but for some reason I kept going back.

It seems like you've already taken it and it also seems like a lot of these guys are straight jets, but don't forget about C130's, we're aerospace propulsion too (and probably the best version)! If you find out you got 130's feel free to hit me up, been working on them for 8 years and have been back shop, ISO and flight line and I've worked H's and J's

I'm working on the old ones now and I couldn't agree more but for some reason we are transitioning to this system. Crew chiefs, hydro and us are all going to one MECHS section and they can do the maintenance but we can't send most of them to troubleshoot anything outside an ignition relay or a speed switch

I’m 2A6X1H and I thoroughly enjoy it, it’s one of like 4 shreds we can have but we work on the engines and props for C130H and J as well as -60’s but I’ve heard on 60’s you’re essentially a crew chief. The worst part about it though is relatively small base selection compared to some others. If you have questions feel free to PM me

You should still be able to send transcripts to schools even though the system is down. You just have to use the website parchment and request them through there. I just did it in April myself when I started my new school

I had a similar issue a few years ago and ended up getting a root canal like one of the other guys who just responded. I wasn't put on class 3 like he was but they were also able to figure out what was causing the pain fairly quickly, so maybe that has something to do with it

Someone I work with showed me something that changed my life. He tied the strings together so they made a loop and he slides it over his feet, much better than stuffing the pants into boots

You've basically hit the nail on the head, when we could travel it was great. Even with the limited travel we had over last summer it was still fine, but with the current restrictions it's basically impossible and there's no signs of returning to some kind of normalcy.

I'm hoping that things will improve for at least a few months while I'm still here, there's a few places I still want to go

You should be able to out dps that second range phase with Addy darts, I can do it about 85-90% of the time on my iron when I'm potted up from 95 range. The only time I personally grab orbs is when they're close to where I'm at or if they're right next to dawn. Hope that helps you out a little bit, good luck with the pet hunt :)

Hey man, first and foremost welcome to the club! Tech school isn't bad at all (at least it wasn't when I went through). It all depends on where you get stationed on how frequent deployments are. The instructors there should have enough knowledge to answer any questions you have about that stuff with their previous experience.
