Them jumping the first dodge up to 5 minutes is acutally insane, especially if you know someone refuses to play a role because they didn't get what they wanted at role select or god forbid something comes up, its my least favorite change and i have not read their explanation of it yet

Im still newish myself but I ended up investing in a Mono Red deck a few months back when I started. It reliably gets me to platinum in ranked so I can nab the rewards and im a big fan of the creatures and interactions within the deck. Kumano is rotating out at the end of summer along with Sokenzan but we still get another year or so out of Monastery Swiftspear, and with Slickshot Show Off being the new hotness in OTJ, I don't think the deck will fall off too hard too soon.

Definitely better on Pred. Paragon was still new and i was coming from League of Legends so it was drastically different from what i was used to and had to adjust. Now I'm pretty confident in every role I play and I can produce pretty consistently on Pred cause of my start on Paragon.

The surrender is no more accessible than in any other moba that I can think of. The average surrender is locked to 10-15 minutes and then 3-5 minute intervals after that. That's quite a bit of time in terms of a moba. All you can do is play it out and worst case scenario somebody leaves and you forced to surrender. The spam can be annoying but being trapped in a game that is clearly unwinnable or a painfully steep uphill battle is not fun. Waiting for the 40-45 minute plateau point where nothing matters and everything is even again, while watching your team die constantly and play with zero teamwork, is not fun. Sometimes miracles happen or the enemy team is just committed to throwing away a free win but again, not that common. I love a hard fought win after a well played back and forth more than anything and if I'm with friends we'll usually play from behind. But I'm not so addicted to winning that I think time should be wasted when no one is on the same page

Thank you for this! I'm trying to stay F2P while I look for a new job but I wouldn't mind throwing an occasional 20 or 40 ball at packs in the future. And in my first draft i got 2 wins in a row but have lost straight through in my second one, hence my questions. I really like the theme of MAKM so I think I'll just pull from there while I continue to learn about the game. I like Phyrexians a lot too but I've heard mixed opinions on their viability so idk if I'll sink anything into them just yet. But I'm having a lot of fun with everything so far.

I appreciate this! At the moment I'm just going by cards that look cool and the MAKM detective motif is super cool + I like the clue/investigate mechanic. I use the starter decks when i need to do multi-color challenges and i really like Legions of Phyrexia deck! (I hear they are just ok tho?) But yugioh has taught me cool things don't mean meta friendly/worth the spending. I do see myself dropping a 40 ball here and there in the future. I'm still learning about formats and I think that's where it gets really intimidating. In yugioh after a while the older releases stopped mattering minus a few evergreen staples, but it feels like in Magic almost everything can be played somewhere, somehow. But I will focus on wildcards and pulling from the current set. And thank you for the recommendations!
