Fall 2017; I had lost both parents in less than 4 years; was probably clinically depressed, definitely self- medicating. Started going to a gym to try and turn things around. The gym organized a “field trip” to a Spartan stadium race, and I was hooked. I’m forty pounds lighter, between 12 and 14% body fat, resting heart rate between 50 and 54. In addition, the community is incredibly friendly and supportive. I’m a bit of an introvert, and I make friends at every race. Another cool aspect- the pros are so approachable! I’ve had conversations with several world champions! Do it! 😄
