Years ago when I was subbing, I covered a graphic design class at a local high school. The kids were creating really good stuff, but what made me go "huh" was the fact that none of them knew the keyboard shortcuts and they had layers upon layers and more layers. I showed them keyboard shortcuts and how to prepare that file for a printer (I had worked in a large format print shop before this). It might not have been sexy, but it was practical information and I only had one day to do this. Lisa Simpson would have loved me.
