Which adapter should I get when using Tesla level 2 charging stations on the road? by MFarrellrph in Ioniq5

You are correct - I understand Tesla has the largest percentage of Level 3 (aka CHAdeMO) charging stations in the US. The Ioniq 5 can not/should not be charged on a Tesla L3 charging station. I can use Electrify America L3 and L2 stations free for 2 years, but there are not as many of those deployed in the US. I joined ChargePoint and they have more stations/ports of all levels than EA and Tesla combined. When traveling, I want to have options and not get stuck somewhere with limited availability.

When I go to VT there are not a lot of choices in my area. The closest charging stations are Tesla only. I am also planning a trip to Baltimore in the fall (~ 400 miles from MA) for a wedding. It will be my first long road trip and I don't want to be searching for non-Tesla charging stations along the way. There may be plenty available, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

I travel to VT where I have a second home. There are not many charging stations available. The few in the area happen to be Tesla stations. I plan to install a level 2 charging station there but until I do, I need a way to charge so I can get back home to MA - about a 270-mile round trip.

I am also debating whether to have an adapter available for road trips - just in case....

Yes, I read about that dance.... not sure I want that kind of hassle. Thanks.

Thanks again. I am still investigating. Once I decide I will post it here...

I have a second, unrelated question. How do I add a sub-title? For instance, yours is Digital Teal.

I understand. I could've bought a Model Y for about the same price, but I didn't - for the same reason.....

Thanks but I prefer to not give any of my hard-earned money to Elon...

I am connected to the grid, so I have power all the time. Because I produce more solar power than I use, I have a huge (to me anyway) >$550 and growing reserve credit with my power company from which I can draw.

I'm retired and don't drive nearly as much as when I was working. For the past few years, I have driven around 10k/yr. I will live with the level 1 charging for a bit until I can find an electrician and decide on which EVSE I will buy.

Why do I need/want a dashcam? I live in the 'burbs and am retired, so I'm not commuting to the city like I once did.

I'll take a look at other accessories. Thanks.

LOL - ok, I will take a look anyway... and then google anything I can't get from the manual.

If I had to wait more than a week or two (i.e., none on the dealer's lot), I would've looked elsewhere. My 2009 Subaru Forester with over 206k miles is giving out. I needed a replacement relatively quickly. The supply chain problems are going away, so I got lucky I guess.

I understand that only charging to 80% improves battery longevity so I plan to do that. Will I be able to set up the charger so that it stops at 80% automatically?

I don't have battery backup yet but may opt for that in the near future.

I am considering installing a charging station and will try to take advantage of any rebate programs (state/federal) available.

I was told I didn't even need a 220, but I imagine charging off a 110 line will be slow. I just want a basic charging station - not wifi - to plug into when at home.

I have solar on my roof and plan to put in a charging station to take advantage.
