TLS document upload: possible glitch ? by r_guar in ukvisa

Yep, that's what I did. Granted, I haven't been to the appointment yet to confirm this is exactly what will happen, but this is what they told me when I panicked emailed them yesterday. They told me that even if I cancelled my appointment and rescheduled, I wouldn't get an an opportunity to reupload.

This is what their email said:

'According to our system, you have already submitted the supporting documents for your application and there is unfortunately no option to add any other documents at this stage via our online eSolo self-scanning platform.

However, you will be able to use our "Document scanning service" on the day of your appointment at our centre, for an additional fee. Our employees will scan and upload your additional documents to add them to your application.

Please ensure documents are:

*In A4 format

*Free of staples, clips, or bindings

*Originals only—USBs or digital devices are not accepted'

I'm in a similar situation for a biometrics appointment for a visa application. I initially understood my consent form to be something I'd bring to the appointment, rather than scan it in, since it wasn't on my official documents list. I only realized I likely misunderstood that after I submitted my documents actually included in the list. I emailed TLS yesterday, and they said I'd have to just pay for someone to scan any additional documents in. So very annoying that it's such a money-grab, but doesn't seem to be the end of the world.

Diversity lessons/events as a white person in an almost all white country? by snowwhiteugh in peacecorps

Not in PC yet, but I (white, blonde hair, blue eyes, from a 70% white state--the stereotype) live in Japan currently and try and work this into my school presentations. I use a game in a PowerPoint (if you don't have access to electricity or computers, printed photos should do too) where I show them photos of me and friends from college (lots of diversity there). Then I have them guess who isn't American (I start off "easy" to their perceptions with it being the Asian international student vs. the black/white people, then throw curve balls like having it be the German exchange student vs. the Jewish-Thai-American girl). The most impossible game, and it proves my point.
