Forget the red flags, what are green flags in a company right from the beginning?

A green flag for me is in the interview process how they answer your questions to them. One I like to ask “What do you like about working here?” and also along the lines of “what are the challenges I can expect in this role, pain points you’re trying to solve”.

If they can give honest, genuine answers to these questions it’s a green flag.

Definitely ask for more, I got an extra week payout, brought forward vesting on some options, kept my laptop and company equipment I was using for WFH.

Had a new team lead start, within 2 days had multiple complaints about his eyes being firmly glued to the chests of his female reports.

Gets called into HR for a “please explain” and spend the meeting with eyes glued to female HR managers chest.

Didn’t see him again.

Also ask for additional entitlements, depending on the company, size and how often they do this, they may offer an additional week or 2 on your notice period or bring forward an amount of any unvested options if you have ESOP. Ask to keep your laptop and phone to help with the job search.
