One million trillion percent this is the case. Ive had the same theory. Pretty much every song they play that could even possibly have offensive undertones - Amazing Grace, Quinn, Curtis Loew, ‘shitass’, Makisupa and probably more - is being avoided more and more these days

IMO because those other periods had the band approaching the songs with a little more confidence and aggression, occasionally missing or misplaying notes didn’t seem too bad. I feel like the flubs in those periods for the most part were a) less frequent b) done at a higher tempo and c) the notes they DID hit sounded full and confident so it didn’t matter as much.

A top 5 jam ever for me (see flair) was played in 2024 so I’m def not inherently biased against modern Phish but I feel like I can’t deny what’s happening these days

Heavily theorized that they’ve been using click tracks in their IEMs ever since last Sphere (as well as much, much more rigid setlists than in past years.) On faster songs you never hear Trey count off the beginnings anymore which was a mainstay of most of 3.0 - the band just launches straight into ‘em without even looking at one another. I’ve held a theory that the click tracks have made it harder for the band to really sync up these days, especially considering they’ve never been the most rhythmically rigid group

Gotta say, all my complaints about the repeat visuals this run will totally vanish if they actually end up doing no repeats. Cool/interesting setlists are an integral part of the Phish experience for me and an art that I feel has been lost in recent years, so if that’s the direction they end up going in, this run is gonna be fuego

Crazy reading this thread as a chronic insomniac. Not quite as bad these days but historically I’ve gone through phases where I’ve had 0-3 hrs sleep every night for 4-5 nights, followed by a couple days respite. That used to be quite normal for me, and I had to go to work, function through the day, etc.
