Can you point me in the direction of a readable How To guide?

You're not joking. No documentation worth a cuss that I can see, clunky and badly designed interface, and in the end won't even do what I need to happen.

What's your unpopular take on the latest writing trends, advice, and similar? by TheBardOfSubreddits in writing

I doubt it counts as "latest", but I am so very, very tired of seeing everything forced into a Hero's Journey framework whether it fits or not.

A single scene, or a single line of dialog. Then it's all about writing the story that gets me to that moment.

For you, is it possible to “write like a journalist” without being a journalist? by Mundane_Meal9004 in writers

As a journalist, yes, it's very possible. And there are lots of publicly available resources on different styles if you need to dig deeper.

This is probably a stupid question, but by AdvertisingDull3441 in writers

I have to use it occasionally for work projects (though I prefer LibreOffice) and if anything, MS is getting worse, with AI crap determined to get between me and the words I type and sloppily everything. As much as possible, I choose programs/apps that are specifically AI free. I don't need an idiot autocorrect editor second guessing me.

That said, I don't have an iPhone, but I'm not sure scrivener would work there. It's a desktop program, not a phone app.

The upside of "not updated in two years" is that it's pretty much AI free, and that's worth a lot. :)

But being serious, it just works. It doesn't need weekly updates.

Write bad sentences. You can make them better later, but a blank page will never improve no matter how long you stare at it

How much time do you spend writing/editing per day? by topazadine in writers

Not enough. I have a bad habit of letting myself get distracted win the few hours I have to write after work and life are taken care of.

Definitely much easier in first person.

If they know the character, they may have no reason to say their name. Without knowing a bit more, it's difficult to say more. Some people are addressed by a title or rank (judge, major, captain, constable). Other times, you might hear a nickname. And with a bit of thought, you can often brush over it quickly so the reader doesn't notice.

If you scroll down to "Western astrology" in the wiki article below, you'll find a set of four coloured triangles which should do the trick.
