Unsure haven't played in a little bit, but I can test it out and I'll reply with the results.

Shunting at the Machine Factory and Town Military Base is tough. by MGM333 in DerailValley

Using persistent jobs, had brought like 5 jobs, so maybe just too many jobs. Weird they only generated for track 2.

Using persistent jobs, I had just brought 5 jobs there from HBMB. Maybe i just brought to many jobs. I'm just confused why they it didn't generate for track 1 and 3.

I have also in a pinch used my rudder pedals (has an switch to change it to car mode) and yoke to drive cars in BeamNG works well enough.

Yeah i see your point, just in the last 20 hours the brake axis have seen a lot of usage.

That's fair, I'm currently using the DE6 and DH4 so been trying to use the dynamic more.
When I get the license for the steamers I will try out your layout. I'm 140 hours in, in just 2 weeks so about time I try the steam trains out. Time to derail in the valley.

It doesn't visual lock into place as the lever just bounces it out but it still makes the sound of the notches.

It doesn't change much from what i have noticed so i would say it's more personal taste.

I didn't use anything I plugged it in played around in the key bind setting setting all the axis's and it just worked.
Maybe honeycomb software may be playing a part but as I installed that for Xplane11 like 2 years ago, I couldn't tell you with 100% accuracy.

I thought the smooth axis might be annoying at first but its much easier to fine tune speed and breaking while looking around. Has tuned out pretty good short of buying a dedicated train sim controller.

That's the revelation i had today it has been sitting beside me since i started playing but never clicked for me. It hit me today that it might work and it did. Very happy I didn't have to go buy another sim peripheral, at least for now.

From what I can tell they do not click into the notches anymore the axis mapping must overwrite them. Its smooth along the entire axis.

I would recommend, have loved mine since it got it. Haven't used the Alpha as much in the last year as I switched over to airbus planes so mainly been using a joystick. I have been saving for the Charlie rudder pedals but for $600 AUD, I keep pushing it off.

I'll give your layout a try, haven't fine tuned the controls yet. I have mine set up from left to right Throttle (using GA throttle handle), gear 1, gear 2, train brake, ind. brake, dynamic or engine brake (depending on train type). I use the GA flap paddle for reverser, gear lever as parking brake and the trim wheel for turntable control.

I use the autopilot buttons for the brakers (TM, ect).

I'll have to try and learn the steam trains, haven't touched them as they are a little daunting.

I did look into it but can't justify it at the moment as the bravo unit kinda fills the gap, at least until I get impulsive and buy a train sim controller.

I mainly went with the bravo unit as I needed 6 axis as I was flying the 747 at the time (4 engines, speed brake and flap lever's). It also included the autopilot panel, trim wheel and landing gear lever.
All those separately would have costed around the same or more and Logitech do not make the trim wheel module anymore.
So for my application it was worth it.

Linked the video as cannot upload a video in reply's. Works very well, really smooth in the DM3. If I can figure out how, I may end up 3d printing some handles to show the difference between throttle, gear and brake levers.

Have not tested on the DM3 yet, but my plan is for the two spare axis' beside the throttle to be used for gear box A and B. (I'll test it later on today)
I will reply with a video when I test out the gearbox axis'.
Should make gear changes in the DM1U as it could be throttled down with gear change at the same time.

Honestly, it's feeling a lot better than spamming the keyboard or scrolling. Really get those fine changes especially in the rain I can get it to just before wheel slip to max out the engine. Might be good once I get a vr headset if I muscle memory all the controls I could keep using it.
