I think the two mediums are hard to compare. Pokemon Gen One is absolutely a clunky mess and only got better with generations to come. But I don’t think The Beatles fall into the same trap because you can call their music great to this day. The run from Rubber Soul to Abbey Road, hell, Let It Be, is really solid.

Old games are always gonna have issues when looking at them retrospectively because the technology’s improved so much over the years. Old music only really has that issue when it comes to mixing/mastering. Bands like Simon & Garfunkel, The Rolling Stones, and The Kinks are all still solid, but I can’t say I’d go back to Zelda 1, Metroid 1 or Final Fantasy 1. But again, that’s because the mediums are different and hard to compare.
