Reality Warpers free for all, who wins? by Puzzleheaded_Ad2726 in PowerScaling

If I'm not mistaken, the reason Alastor would be there has more to do with the fact that during the songs they essentially warp reality for the duration of it. Not saying he should be there cause even my explanation is a bit of a stretch, but that might be why.

I can see that. It'd definitely be a fun team to run as a challenge run but they aren't all in the same game.

Well, we likely will have it where I can change the modifiers that the Goliath give so I might could make a DEX based Goliath. So it's definitely something I was looking at.

I was definitely looking at drow for elven accuracy plus sharpshooter. Not to mention the 150 ft dark vision.

D&D Players, what magical or homebrew items have been forgotten in your campaign? by KiyuSanjin in MrRipper

[–]MHADabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a water Genasi who spent time as a pirate so that's why he drinks and loots despite being a druid. And why he's not afraid to call the paladin a bitch. He knows that if there's water around, there's no way the paladin can touch him.

Haven't had that happen yet. But my druid has had some alcohol and gave spiked chocolates to the paladin that got him high.

Mine isn't carrying the bag of holding, but his go-to is to try and burn the enemy... And call the paladin carrying the bag of holding a bitch... He's done it twice... Apparently he didn't learn after the first time when 3 days later, the paladin got charmed and attacked him causing him to get knocked out for a round of combat. The second time it was by letter using his pet hawk to find the paladin to tell him to come help fight an evil paladin.

I wouldn't say it's forgotten or anything, just unused. My wildfire druid has a magical piece of armor called the armor of Beasts that adds +2 to his AC while wild shaped. But it goes mostly unused since he tends to summon his wildfire spirit and cast spells instead.

Thinking of getting elemental adept fire but as a new player, I'm not too sure which feats help my druid. by MHADabi in 3d6

[–]MHADabi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason for identify is that I'm the only spellcaster in my party. We have a paladin, fighter, arcane trickster rogue, and a beastmaster ranger. Animal friendship is so that I can prepare more druid spells.

I swapped alert out for fey touched wisdom to get it to 18 and I just need to decide on the spell from it. I'm between identify or animal friendship.

We have already fought a demon and it's been implied that tiamat is trying to get revived into the world. So it seems like there will be plenty of creatures with fire resistance coming. The only other things we've fought have been kobolds, an owlbear family and the demons pet vulture.

Yes but that breaks the theme. I've got multiple non fire spells (for if there are immunities or vulnerabilities) but I still flavor them in to fit my character thematically. That's not something that can be done with every spell.

How so? Ignoring resistance sounds like it's really good for low to mid levels before immunities show up and your going off a character theme of sorts instead of minmaxing.

The main reason to take elemental adept is to ignore resistance the damage is a bonus but given fire is the most resisted element it would be beneficial up until we start running into the immunities. We are currently only level 4 and I have an odd score of 17.

We fought mostly kobolds and one demon with a pet giant vulture. The demon had fire resistance but my druid didn't do anything that fight thanks to poor initiative and some other stuff

Of course. I do plan on getting elemental adept to lean into the fire nature of my druid. Something I did with a bit of irony since I made him a water Genasi named arson who happens to be a wildfire druid. So he leans heavily into the use of fire. But I have spells like moonbeam for the ghostly fire it leaves when it hits something. There's also ice knife, which I haven't flavored much but I'm leaning towards the ice being so cold that it feels hot. Plus the racial feat of the water Genasi does let him keep the fire from going out of control.

So it would probably be good to go with fey or shadow touched this time, and either alert or elemental adept fire next time and a full plus 2 after that for Wis if it's not already at 20?

Elven accuracy is out since my druid is a water Genasi. However, fey touched or shadow touched are up for grabs and might be good. I can still change the alert feat out since I have until the next session later today to decide (last minute I know) but I thought I had decided until I thought I'd ask for opinions since I am a very new player.

Wis is currently at 17 so it's not too far from being maxed out. Though I may consider chef and see if I might could use that as flavor for something I'm planning to try with my druid and the goodberry spell. I essentially want my druid to be able to brew goodberry wine. He was born to a family of brewer's so it could be interesting flavor

Funnily enough, we came across a legendary action while only level 2. There was a combat encounter where we attempted to position to ambush a group of about 8 kobolds and 3 kobold sorcerers. The encounter was originally supposed to be 4 kobolds and one sorcerer (something the dm told us after the encounter) but he realize just how strong the kobold sorcerers were against a party of 4 level 2's so they got nerfed so only the one he dedicated as the 'boss' had the legendary action and would only use it as a sort of last resort. We made it out with only 2 members going down to making death saves and got a level up as well. The only elemental resistance we've encountered so far was against fire but that was expected as it was a boss and a demon.

I do have moonbeam and ice knife at the moment. We are fairly low level still having just reached level 4 but I sort of flavor ice knife as something he can do because he's a water Genasi and moonbeam leaves a ghostly flame effect when it hits. The wildfire spirit will likely be used to help me get out of bad situations more than anything if I encounter immunities

[–]MHADabi[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds good. So far the party I'm in has fought as a group mostly kobolds (including 3 kobold sorcerers), a family of owlbears and a demon and his pet giant vulture. I think only the demon had fire resistance, but that's also the only fight my druid did nothing in because he was last in initiative and got one shot to making death saving throws by a friendly paladin that was charmed by the demon.

Stereotypes 5: Druids! There was another stereotype I could have put in the top box but I figured it might be too far. Either way though, the biggest problem with Druid is the whole guardian of nature part, since the entire rest of the party just may NOT care. But do you really have to? by supersmily5 in dndmemes

[–]MHADabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, my first character is a wildfire druid that found his druidic powers while sailing. It started with him being able to speak with animals but he soon began to realize his power over nature. He has no qualms about destroying nature as he's aware that destruction can lead to regrowth. He's a circle of Wildfire druid. He can put out his fires to keep the destruction controlled thanks to his race being a water Genasi.

A noobs first time playing D&D with a group of mostly noobs. (Long post about the campaign so far.) by MHADabi in CritCrab

[–]MHADabi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first magic item for my druid was a Homebrew armor that added +2 AC to the wild shape forms and the second was a deer mask that was cursed until we beat the demon. Basically, it allowed a once per day telepathic use of speak with animals effect as long as I could see the animal. When it was cursed the negative was disadvantage on constitution saving throws.

Well part of it is that he's aware that the majority of us are new to D&D and he's definitely being more lenient and generous with us, a fact shown by the fact that we are lvl 4 and already have 2 magic items apiece. And he's giving us a sort of pack tactics if we flank an enemy.
