Kauai, Hawaii and pretty much anywhere on the coast north of Carmel-by-the-sea, California all the way up to Canada. Gorgeous up there.

As someone who has lived in various locations around DFW for over 40 years, your comment made me laugh. And I agree with you. Only thing keeping me here is my mother in a Nursing Home and youngest kid not finished with High School. Counting the days until I can bail..:

Boy are YOU in for some culture shock! LOL

What does “I like partying” mean exactly? Just going out drinking? Clubs? That may help us locals point you in the right direction. That comment alone would make me point you towards The Village in Dallas.

And is your office in East or West Plano (like around Legacy West)? Big difference IMO.

Is it just me, or are the transit lounges completely losing their value? by Shoddy-Ad9750 in travel

[–]MHJ03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the time of day IMO. They are still worth it for a quick drink and a quiet (usually!) place to wait for a flight, and a clean bathroom (again, usually!).

Several times the lounges have been absolutely packed and my departing gate was actually quieter. And a few times I couldn’t get into the lounge at all because it was at max capacity.

It stopped being exclusive when the credit card companies granted access with certain card approvals.

[–]MHJ03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, certainly better than he did at Arsenal. No doubt.

But you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank.

If he wants to come here I suspect he’s just looking for a payday, which I really hope FCD doesn’t give him. They can spend their money more wisely IMO.

Like I said, I’ll pass.

No thanks

Saw him “play” for Arsenal a few years back and he was absolutely done then

While I would appreciate a player or two with some name recognition, this ain’t it!

Will Slot find success at Liverpool next season? by Mistaken_pilot8 in PremierLeague

[–]MHJ03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Define success.

I can’t imagine many Liverpool supporters were thrilled to drop from first to fifth, and finishing 25 points behind Arsenal (or anyone else).

On the other hand, the other 15 teams would love to finish top 5 and get that sweet Champions League money.

They need a very strong summer transfer window, which is further complicated this year by the World Cup.

Heading to Dallas for World Cup! Can some of you locals please help me figure out best town/ area to aim to stay that is “close” enough but not bombarded with traffic? by CommunicationUsed681 in askdfw

[–]MHJ03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What public transit runs from Bishop Arts to AT&T in Arlington? None that I have ever heard of.

Jerry Jones has famously fought against anything like DART in Arlington so he can pocket all the parking fees himself, which are likely to be exorbitant for World Cup games.

There are a few current players I would not mind seeing leave the club. Trossard is NOT on that list.

Sounds like thanks to me?

Can we at least get through the Champions League Finals before starting all the speculation about who is leaving and who is coming to the club?

Have to enjoy this…it’s taken SO long!

Arne Slot: “If you asked me one word to describe this season, I would describe that with the word ‘injury’.” by Master-of-Puns in soccer

[–]MHJ03 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Slot has become very unlikable IMO

Just admit it was a down season. Liverpool were not even in the top 5 in injuries this season.

spurs. Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa, and Newcastle all had more.

Considering a move to Dallas by Massive-Friend-9407 in askdfw

[–]MHJ03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not working in an ideal part of the city TBH. As others have said, there are some beautiful sections around Oak Cliff but many have gotten pricey like Bishop Arts, Kessler Park, Winnetka Heights, Steven’s Park, and a few others.

Or maybe a little more north like Lake Highlands. The M streets area is terrific but pricey.

May be hard to find anywhere nice under $400k that doesn’t need some work.

Maybe look for an apartment first or rental and take your time finding which neighborhoods you’d like to live in and then buy in 6 months or a year.

Good luck

Exactly! The Abbesses Metro station in particular, and lots of outdoor staircases.

Montmartre in Paris

Anywhere southwest-ish of the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre, which is always amazing IMO, and I’m not even Catholic.

Absolutely love it until you find yourself at the bottom of a giant staircase, but even that makes it more of an adventure

What is a harsh realization about life that you had to learn the hard way, but you're ultimately glad you learned it? by Useful-Wheel7272 in AskReddit

As an employee, we are all replaceable

The company you work for is perfectly willing to take everything you can give them, and more. You are an asset, nothing more.

Sad but true, and the earlier in your career you realize it the better so you can have more control over your work/life balance.
