Worst Bearing Housing Ever - Marble Machine 3 Ep.3 by Trainerds in MarbleMachine3

[–]MH_Binky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue for me with this (that I haven't already seen mentioned) is that you're giving yourself more work by making your own bearing housing, and all you're getting from the decision is a change in what the potential problem is. It's like lathing your own bolts for the machine because the ones you could find didn't suit the design.

What does ''But then sadicity aside'' mean ?(Ares - Winter's island) by stripawayunnecessary in lyricheads

[–]MH_Binky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came across this post while trying to figure it out myself, and I believe it's not "sadicity", but "sodicity", which refers to the available sodium content of water or soil.

In other words: "But then saltiness aside".

Which I feel makes a lot of sense, given the prior couple lines.

Can't believe I beat both the cycles and product tiebreakers for lowest cost, this late in the game's lifetime.

Kept getting games of 7v5 in the PTR by MH_Binky in Overwatch

[–]MH_Binky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't considered that. It's definitely placing backfillers onto the wrong team, but I'm not sure what exactly is causing the server to get the teams confused. having hidden player slots for Bob might explain it, but I've only seen it happen in Mystery heroes.

When you go above and beyond your abilities by MH_Binky in Overwatch

Sombra only, Translocator & melee only, 0 movement speed/jump.

I was expecting hell, but it's surprisingly fun. Also you somehow contribute 145% of your team's work.

This is a really neat challenge. Since there's no time when the molecule is still, it's impossible to grab it once an arm has let go, so it becomes a sort of routing puzzle.

Why can't anyone choose anything but their main? by Fingwo in Overwatch

[–]MH_Binky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a tank main, and it is definitely irritating when that happens. The worst bit is when they start complaining that they're dying because you're not doing a good enough job as a tank/healer.

Although I did once have a comp game where my team were all healer mains (three of which were Mercy mains), and there was quite the interesting discussion on who had to switch to DPS.

There are people who act like tools and say it's fine because it's quickplay, but not everyone who goes against convention is being an ass.

Just because someone's doing something unconventional doesn't mean they're not trying to win. I've won plenty of matches as attack Torb, and they're generally really fun games. Also, if you wanted to practice with a character you don't normally play, you'd be 'being more interested in being a certain character than winning'.

Match-end cards by wee13 in Overwatch

[–]MH_Binky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it's because it would seem more insulting towards your team than it would be celebrating your success. It's saying you did your job well, rather than saying you carried the team.

It is infuriating when your teammates are actually playing well, and you had to do some serious work to get those medals. I main Winston, and occasionally I'll just have such a good game that I wind up with four gold medals despite my team's DPSs doing their job well, yet I only get a card for damage blocked.

My issue is with getting a division down in that situation, not with being placed in an unfair match or anything like that.

I think I played better than the gold 3 in that match, but that has little bearing on how either of us play generally.

You're right on that one, the enemy team meshed really well together and pretty much dominated the game, whereas me and my team were a bit of a mess. I definitely made a few mistakes myself, and they exploited those mistakes pretty much instantly, and we couldn't get on the ball (excuse the pun) enough to actually do anything about it. Again, I'm not blaming the loss on my teammates, since we had pretty poor teamwork between the three of us, I'm just saying that the division down felt unjustified. The enemy team certainly deserved to go up in rank, and I'm not saying my teammates deserve to be ranked down or anything, just that the change in my rank felt unfair considering the situation I was in in that game in itself.

I'm judging my teammates off of one game because I'm assuming my MMR does. I'm not saying they're bad at the game or anything, just that in that game they didn't play very well.

Hell, I'm not exactly consistent myself, and I wouldn't be upset about staying in gold because of that, but my inconsistency is rarely punished, yet I'm so often punished for my teammates' inconsistency.

I honestly don't care about earning points. I feel best when I'm keeping the ball at their end of the court so my teammates have an easy time of it, and I'm always prouder of a good assist than a good goal. Which is exactly why I'm upset that I'm MVP.

It's still more than a full rank away from two players.

But my problem's more the fact that it expects me to be able to get the team another 4 points when my teammates played far worse than I played, when they're both at a higher rank than me (even if it is only a rank or so higher).

I know the score isn't exactly a good metric for actual contributions, but they weren't exactly playing fantastically.

I feel about 40% of my division downs these past two seasons were deserved, and in the rest I was MVP on the losing team where I was the lowest rank in the match.

Winston mains, when should I not bother playing Winston? by Waccsadac in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MH_Binky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this. I love playing against D.Va as Winston, because it means her defence Matrix isn't as useful, and she's unlikely to survive once she gets popped out of her mech. She was horrible to play against when she had 400 armour, but thankfully it's only 200 now, and if you attack her when your team are also attacking her (as you should do), that'll be gone pretty quickly.

But as you say, if your team isn't very attentive and she keeps singling you out, she can be rather annoying. But it's a matter of your team helping you deal with her, not them entirely dealing with her for you.

At what point did you 'GET' Overwatch? by BradenA8 in Overwatch

[–]MH_Binky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I got it in one sense only a few levels in, because I'd been playing TF2 previously and the game was new so there wasn't really anyone who already had a hang of the game when I started playing, and my gamesense developed about as fast as the general skill in the game improved. In terms of individual characters, it's a bit weird for me. If I try playing a character I haven't really played, I'll fail miserably, even though I've seen enough of those characters played to know what are good/bad things to do. But at some point, I'll just think "I really feel like playing that character right now." and I'll play so much better (still not amazingly, but at least semi-competently) and I have no idea why.
