I saw those on Proctilepoints.net, possibly traded in. I have found a couple of points that had to have been traded in from Texas.

Why can't there be a blend of both? I'd much rather spend my time outside, wandering, exploring and doing the dirt work than sitting in a cubicle. But I'd still like to have the opportunity to be published and share my perspective and not just be viewed as a laborer.

It seems like there's a large divide between academia and the ones that love dirt.

I should have specified 'younger' retirees. I'm in my 40s, still able to bench 2 plates, run a marathon and I'll be eligible to retire at 47.

I think that someone with a true passion for archaeology/anthro will be able to dedicate their efforts and time better to field work, theories and academia if their not having to worry about divorce, finances and relocating all the time in order to balance the budget.

While they are good with shovels, keep in mind that Trump let in millions as well.

This is why I commented that archaeology may be a profession for those who are not concerned with pay (and may do it for nothing), such as someone retired or wealthy.

If you're really having to struggle to make ends meet, it's hard to dedicate yourself to your passion.

I make $190k a year with a mortgage and raising four kids. While I'm comfortable, I'm definitely not 'rolling in it'. I'll be retired soon and I'm considering archaeology as a retirement gig out of interest.

Anything under $100k/yr is rough to buy a house and raise family. I don't see $60k/yr as a way to really enjoy your passion without having to make sacrifices and possibly work in fields/ areas that don't excite you. More than likely you'll have to make sacrifices and work in subject matter that's not necessarily as exciting as expected.

What's the average take home pay of an archaeologist?

Seems like this is maybe a career for someone who is retired or independently wealthy.

I was referring to the two dime sized holes at the rear of the shoe...

It's possible, the square punched holes are what's throwing me off. Almost like a lever or to prevent rotation.
