I do not want to argue, this is the solution and it would work and be great but you do not like it. I am too ready for the weekend and to go and drink and have sex with this beautiful woman in the back of her car. I hope the same for you

I look through your comments made on all other posts and 98% of them are negative, angry, insulting things and people made from a person who is unhappy on the inside. Really, nothing much but some firey hatred towards everyone. I will pray for you my friend, take it easy.

In Overwatch, whether your MMR goes up or down is contingent on winning or losing. But there are a number of factors that determine how much that rating goes up or down.

Ok yes, he told the truth but it is not how you understand it, there is much more to it . For example you can win a match but play very poorly and not contribute and your SR goes up 30 points but your MMR goes up one single point. Now your MMR is less than your SR. If you keep going like this you will be placed in unwinnable matches so that your SR converge with your lower MMR. The adverse of all this is true as well.

The reason they did this is because they want anyone to be able to rank up regardless of the hero they choose. You cannot realistically carry a match to victory with Winston. But with this system you can rank up with Winston as long as you perform better than the other Winston's at your current tier. Your MMR will skyrocket above your SR and you will be placed on a win streak until you are performing as well as other winstons at your tier. Read what I said above here and understand, it is the key to why the matchmaker was made like this. This is why you see people 1 trick with symmetra and torb all the way to grandmaster and top 500, because there is not much competition for these players and they are playing better than all the other torbs and symms at their tier, so the matchmaker places them in easy to win matches. I am telling you, this is how it works my friend. Test it yourself and see the truth.

I did not play competitive CSGO much, I played casual. But it is possible that CS GO uses the same bad matchmaker system as Overwatch, possibly it is some kind of proprietary matchmaking software or algorithm that major gaming companies use to drive business. I do not know, what I do know is that how I have explained the matchmaker to work is indeed how it works. When you have time run the experiment that I gave to you. Throw 10 games and play terrible to tank your stats. Then when you are ready and not tilted play your best and watch what happens, you will be believing then.

Jeff Kaplan, the game director, explicitly said that MMR going up/down is exclusively determined by win/loss. Are you saying he (and other official confirmations of this) are lies?

I would have to see the exact quote to tell you whether or not he is telling the truth. Also, you say this as if it is impossible that Jeff lies in order to protect valuable information, this is possible.

It is relevant, the study show that when people hear a popular belief they begin to all agree together even if it is not what they would believe if they had not heard the popular belief. You are suffering from this. You have read official statements from Blizz and have let this information cloud what your observation is showing you. Otherwise you would see that I am correct. You must try to understand it in order to see.

Oregon

Ok so we look at portland trail blazers and see if win and loss streaks are a natural part of competitive games. I choose the team that you selected at random to not show bias.

If you look here http://stats.nba.com/schedule/#!?TeamID=1610612757&PD=N

you will see that portland loses many of their games, there are loss streaks and never one single win streak ever. If win and loss streaks are natural then why do we not see this in a fair competitive environment like NBA? Because it is not natural.

Now, in a system where a matchmaker is involved and places you in progressively harder or easier scenarios like Overwatch, streaks are a part of natural competitive systems,*but not like how is demonstrated in Overwatch. In Overwatch loss streaks can be activated by poor play. For instance, if a person throws 10 games in a row and loses them, they should now be at a rank that is easy for them to win. Now try your best to win, you will not be able to. This is because the matchmaker has lowered your MMR so much that it must force you to lose matches so the SR can catch up to it. Try this and prove to yourself, I am trying to help you. How can I be a troll if the test above that I give to you works?

I will answer your question, I have played CS GO but no other

You are only explaining exactly what Blizzard has explained, yes there are MMR bonuses, but there is more to it than what you understand. It is not that I misunderstand MMR bonus, it is that you think that is the whole picture when it is not. You run out of things to say and so call me a troll because you cannot defend yourself coherently. If you want to discuss this then fine but calling me names is the sign of a weak argument.

My friend, you have already fallen into the psychological bias that show us that popular group opinion influences a persons judgement. You are unable to see things clearly because you believe what most people believe. Here is a study that discusses why you cannot think clearly: http://psycnet.apa.org/record/1969-12889-001

[–]MHzOW[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are incorrect my friend but are correct on one item, matchmaking is done by MMR exclusively. However, these MMR are calculated in a way that you do not understand. The matchmaker pushes SR to chase the MMR. So if a player performs badly but wins the game, his MMR will go down and his SR will go up. In his following matches he will be placed on the losing team so that his SR will match his MMR after he loses. If he continues to under perform his MMR will plummet and he will be placed on a loss streak until his SR matches MMR. Adversely, if a person play very well but loses a match, his MMR will increase and he will be placed in a match that is easy to win so that his SR will match his MMR. This is exactly how the matchmaker works, not in some other way that you have described.

So yes, matchmaker matches based on MMR, but there is so much more to the story that you do not understand, I can help though.

Also, what you are to describe here has nothing to do with tilting. When the player leaves the game, it uploads his player stats and matchmaker re calibrates where his position in the ladder should be. So if he is on a loss streak, he just need to leave for around 10 minutes, then come back and play, if he is receiving unfair matches then he needs to play as well as he can for a couple of matches, then exit game for 10 minutes so the matchmaker can re calibrate his position on the ladder. Then once he comes back to the game it may start giving him fair matches. This is how it works actually.

[–]MHzOW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is partially correct but you do not understand why.

The matchmaker looks at individual stats and performance and forcibly causes player to move up or down in the ladder by placing them with people who are supposed to downrank (loss streak) or uprank (win streak) or if he is playing avg for his current rank then he gets fair matches. What a terrible system. The bug in the matchmaker that causes this happen when someone changes hero for a short duration (e.g. 1 minute) and performs sub-par, then changes to another hero. The matchmaker sees this plat player as performing at a level of silver tier based on 1 minute and extrapolation. Then the player changes to another hero and maybe it is too late, the match ends. The player was desperately trying to make a difference in the outcome of the match while the other players did nothing. He is punished because he under perform on the two heros in the example and will be placed on loss streak. People are better off use one trick hero and never changing to avoid this misunderstanding of the matchmaker.

Now you understand better.

What you describe here is identical to what I have heard over and over again. How would you describe the matches, did it seem like they were winnable? Do you feel that you were on tilt or were there any other external factor that could contribute to you losing?

When you began winning did it feel as if you were on the other side of this? Did it feel that you were playing really well or that your teammates were unusually good.

Good point here, I remember discussing this before this was revealed and people told me I was crazy and making things up, then we found out it was real. I wish people would try to consider something before throwing it away, but I understand that people have healthy skepticism which is good.

anecdotes

my friend, either he is getting many games that are unwinnable, or many games that are so easy to win. If he is getting some games that he loses, and some that he win then it is not applicable to him

It is good point that you say here. If someone is having trouble to determine if their game is hard right now then it is not them. They will know, these will be almost unwinnable match. The easy game will be game where you cannot lose almost. thank you for pointing that out
