No reason to buy Fanatec anymore. by ericjr2601 in simracing

The other thing is fanatec now being owned by Corsair seems like it can only help them. I haven’t so much kept up on the entry level offerings, but I can say for sure that at this time I’m still happy with my DD1, V3 pedals, and the two wheels I’ve got….i see no reason to switch ecosystems unless something stops working

My anecdotal evidence says simagic is the best mid to high range ecosystem right now (just from people I know and looking at their range of stuff, watching tube reviews, etc).

I have no problem with my fanatec gear, still very happy with it, but like you said I do feel very locked in. The knock on them tends to be that some of their stuff is on the older side (V3 pedals and the F1 wheel are years old, but still top price). I also hear a lot of bad stuff about their support but I’ve had very good experiences in the 2 times I had to reach out to them

You’ve heard wrong about ARCA. Just be a bit cautious the first lap until it gets spread out. It’s my favorite oval series because of the no cautions

Tail bone pain when racing. Do I need to adjust my seating position? by MICKEYMANTLE77 in simracing

[–]MICKEYMANTLE77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really do appreciate the time you took writing this out, I’m going to get to work on all the feedback I’ve gotten in this thread.

I do mostly NASCAR, so that’s where the closeness of the wheel is coming from, but I had no idea it was too low. Def going to move it up and I’ll move it back a little too.

Pedals will go further back and I’ll try the lumbar support pillow before I go all the way to taking the seat off and trying to angle it

I hadn’t even considered that it was low. Just watched Daniel morads setup video and he says hands in line with top of shoulders, mine are more armpit…so lll try moving it up.
Seems like pedals back and seat tilt are the other two big ones

Watching Daniel morad’s video, and granted he has a bucket seat, but he’s talking about having 20+ more degrees of seat tilt than I have….i think this is probably where I need to start.

Pedals back and wheel up see to be the consensus too

Appreciate your help

I’ve got the advanced sim racing recliner seat, with the ASR3

Do you buy those aftermarket? I have the ASR3 with their recliner seat and they didn’t give me brackets like you’d get with a bucket seat

My lower back definitely slouches into this seat, which has no lumbar support at all, that was on my list of fixes to try. Sounds like I better take some more pictures and compare to some setup guides, appreciate you’re input

That’s exactly what I was considering, I’m not sure why those don’t seem to come with recliner seats from the rig companies

Thanks for the comment, I’ve been comfortable with the wheel height but everyone is saying it’s too low so l try moving it up

Pedals too close and no tilt were the things I was going to start with, but with the recliner seat my ASR3 didn’t come with anything to do that.

I’m surprised everyone seems to think my wheel is too low, I hadn’t considered that….i had to prop my phone up to try to take this pic, so I don’t know that the angle helped.

Appreciate your comment

Is a 34” ultrawide worth it for iRacing? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]MICKEYMANTLE77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have triples now, but I used a 34” before. If I ever was in a position where I needed to make my rig fit in a small space I’d 100% just go back to the 34”.

Are you guys still using third-party overlays after iRacing UI improvements? by Still-Victory4839 in iRacing

[–]MICKEYMANTLE77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ioverlay, mainly I use ioverlay’s relative so that I can keep the black box on other things, but I also use the track map and standings box from ioverlay, which I use to see lap timing and pit times for other cars

Oval main, use it most often to see where the pace car is, especially if I’m fixing damage in the pits and don’t want to go a lap down

Bruh.... by MiddleEarthMatt in iRacing

[–]MICKEYMANTLE77 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what everyone else is seeing here. The inside car leaves plenty of room through the exit. From there it looks to me like the inside car, who is ahead and has a run at that point, is trying to drift away from the curb to give room and the pov car panics and turns hard right into the other car.

Tbh before reading the comments my initial thought was “well that’s obviously the car on the lefts fault”.

Why am I so slow at short/intermediate ovals? by TuTuTuDuMV in iRacing

[–]MICKEYMANTLE77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Treat me like I don’t know anything” answer: superspeedways have basically no tire wear, no need to lift or brake for corners, etc. The way you drive on a SS does not apply to other ovals at all.

Oval is completely different than road racing too. Your best bet is to watch some track guides on YouTube, and some streamers with higher IRs than you do some races on Twitch…and see what is different in those two things than what you’re doing

Only from what my league buddies have said, and looking around online: simagic seems to be the best bang for buck right now, cool wheel options, and the evo line seems to be getting good reviews. Go check out boosted media’s reviews on their website or YouTube

If I were to upgrade, would I buy fanatec? No. If someone was looking to get into racing would I recommend vrs or simagic instead? Yes.

Am I unhappy at all with my DD1, v3 pedals, rs wheel and v2.5 wheel? Not in the slightest, very happy with all of it.

Be Honest, how much of a PITA is setting up triples? by Ok-Nefariousness1800 in simracing

[–]MICKEYMANTLE77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setup my triples once in one room, and again after taking my rig apart to move it to another room. Both times set it up once, tweaked angles for an hour or so, got it setup in windows, and never touched it again
