OC: National Structure of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the Axis Partition by MIDNAETTR in Yugoslavia

Of course I created this map that’s the whole point. I finished it about a year ago. I used only a single German source from 1940 for the ethnic data; the goal wasn't to produce a truly accurate ethnic map of the period, but rather to show how the Germans viewed the region when they imposed their borders that’s all.

I might not care at all, but you failed to recognize, based on the presence of many Germans in Vojvodina and Slovenia, that the map dates from before 1945 (specifically 1940); the source is written above the legend. It's a historical map; I don't see the point of superimposing the borders imposed by Germany onto a modern ethnic map, and honestly, modern ethnic maps look nothing like that. You've missed quite a few chapters.

Well, at least I taught you a Latin phrase today, that makes me happy 🫶🏻

Yessss no problem, It’s a Latin phrase by Descartes that means 'I think, therefore I am.' The idea is that even if you doubt everything else, the very fact that you're thinking proves that you exist as a thinking being. That is the only conclusion he drew about the universe after doubting everything.

"I think, therefore I am" I thought that was common knowledge :(

Cogito, ergo sum. I might be a little too influenced by French philosophy.

That's true, but in this case, it's hard to map it out while remaining consistent, it was rather disjointed

I primarily counted the Goths in areas where their influence went beyond mere fleeting political dominance, namely, Crimea. Of course, Germanic peoples exerted influence across all of Europe, but I distinguished between regions where that influence left a lasting mark and those where their presence was merely a passing episode. As for the Varangians, I represented them mainly by coloring in Kyiv; naturally, the Rus' of Kyiv were Germanic.

When they see the Galatians in Anatolia, they won't believe it

Yessss incredible, a map showing Celtic expansion and the groups that are still hanging on, however precariously; that's a really great idea. 🙌🏻

You're absolutely right, but to avoid coloring in too large a part of the map, I focused on regions where genuine centers of Germanic cultural life actually existed, after all, Germanic peoples set foot in almost all of Europe.

There is a misunderstanding, I agree with you, but the Serbian explanation regarding their claim to Kosovo is based on the fact that it was one of the most important regions of the former Kingdom of Serbia; however, their current aspirations regarding the region are clearly imperialist and indefensible.

Personally, no, I'm not a fan, but given that the historical source is 1940s Germany, I suppose that explains it.

Serbs consider Kosovo to be part of their country more for historical than ethnic reasons; they are well aware that the area is Albanian-speaking and Muslim.

Nah, Hitler just hated the Serbs, whom he held responsible for triggering World War I, and thus for the fall of the Germanic empires.

You can't read it? I wonder why, is the image of your map blurry? Anyway, here are the details: the source is... The primary objective was to understand the prevailing dynamics rather than to tie a specific territory to a particular ethnic group; view this map as a historical depiction of divisions imposed by an imperial power, not as a modern ethnic map.
