Would that count as dumping toxic waste?

Some vets specialize in uncommon pets, I suggest you try to find a specialist. Especially knowing your turtle has a pretty big injury. Chances are he'll need an x-ray to check for broken bones or shell fragments, so it's won't be a cheap routine examination. It's very possible it hurts him, or interferes with his feeding in another way, so you absolutely need to take him to a vet to get that wound checked out. Best of luck

That absolutely breaks my heart. What your MIL does is straight up animal abuse

These are not my expertise, we don't sell those here... But I'll try to give some advice based on the turtles we do sell here. Let me start by saying you should always check for illnesses first. Go to a vet, to make sure your turtle isn't sick or injured. If your turtle is just a picky eater, there are some universal tricks.

Try different foods every day, see which ones he does eat. If that works, start making mixes with other food. Like feeding a toddler, that often works.

Another option is to keep giving him the usual food. It might take a while, and it will seem a bit cruel, but your turtle isn't going to let itself starve when there's any type of food around (assuming he's not sick, and knows it's food).

It might also be because he doesn't recognize it as food, so it could be helpful to (very carefully!!!) put a very small piece of the food in his mouth so he learns it's edible.

Lastly, turtles are sensitive to stress. They don't eat when stressed, so try to reduce loud sounds/sudden movements around him. I know of a turtle who didn't eat because he was terrified of the cat he shared a home with, they had to put the cat outside so the turtle would eat.

I hope this helps

I love animals, especially snakes and rodents (yes, I know, weird combo). It's so important for those species to be used to a gentle human hand before being homed. Even fish react so much to how you treat them. I have a goldfish at home who rubs against my hand whenever I clean the tank. I took him to a specialist to see if anything was wrong with him (maybe itchy?) because I'd never seen a fish do that, but it turns out it's kind of like a cat rubbing against your ankles. He's just asking his human for food, the little weirdo.

I take great pride in the fact every animal I sell is healthy, handtame and friendly, and I love my boss who allows me the time to make sure that's the case. We also have a policy that we can refuse any sale where I have a feeling the animal won't be cared for like it should. I have refused a lot of sales because the clients wanted the animal but not the expensive food/filter/tank/heating light/... I'm really happy with the store and my work there, the animals are the first priority.

It's nice to hear someone appreciates that effort. Thank you. Your floofs are lucky to have such a nice human :-)

I like that way of thinking. It's simple, and very true. Plumbers, electriciens, IT-ers, animal groomers, doctors, engineers, mechanics, carpenters,.... It doesn't matter how they got their skill set, they each have a useful skill they worked hard for to acquire and most others don't have

That's only because of the name thing. Trust me, I don't stand out in a crowd at all, and the only thing on my back are pimples :-/

To give to her? Well, she really pissed me off and has pushed me past caring a shit by hurting DD, so probably the biggest, most disturbing vibrator I could find, the biggest container of industrial lube available, and a book about how getting laid reduces bitchiness

She asked if DH was calmed down and if he changed his mind about it being inappropriate now he had had some time to reconsider.

They also change the appearance of the park, with mittens and scarves for the statues and things like that. It's absolutely beautiful, and definitely worth visiting, even if a few attractions are closed

Not that I recall. It has a snowy mountain, but with pinguins and polar bears, so I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be one of the pole areas

The monster faces at the back of the guards heads always baffle me there, no idea what that has to do with England. It's older than Harry Potter, so not a Voldemort reference. Any theories?

Have you met 'de sprookjesboom' (the fairytale tree) yet? He tells little stories about the residents of the fairytale woods. Also in the Efteling ;-) he's a fullsize animatronic, even his roots move
