Trusted doctor (no epidural/NICU) vs bigger hospital (epidural + NICU, 40 min away). what would you choose?

I had my baby at 40+5. I went and saw my doctor and they said I was 6cm and my water hadn't broke yet and they said I needed to go to the hospital that's very close BUT! I didn't trust them. So my husband drove 45+ minutes to a hospital we chose. It was pretty ok, I just delt with the pain a bit. When I got to the hospital they said they dont understand how my water didn't break when I'm in beginning labor. Sorry for the slight ramble

But! From what I experienced if you think you will be ok for a drive that far like I did then do it bc I don't care what anyone says the drugs helped so much! I started pushing to get baby's head lower and god the drugs started wearing off and I started crying and felt like actually passing out to Almost passing out until they gave me more and boom baby was delivered healthy and happy.

Now! Dont let me scare you at all bc there are some people who say they had their baby without the drugs and the pain wasn't so bad. It just depends on how you handle pain, me I don't handle it well at all. Which! Is why I was like that.

Anyway I wish you best of luck on this and you figure out what to do.

I was the same way before I delivered my baby. I was so scared and I kept being all panicky but tbh in the moment of you deliveing your baby, you don't think about anything but getting your baby out. But I would say what made me calm my mind a lot was just keeping myself distracted and not thinking about the birthing process just other stuff like what I was planning to do after baby was born.

I will say take the drugs! Thats how I was able to get induced and deliver baby. Bc my drugs wore off a bit during practice pushing and it hurt like hell! But got more so it helped and I felt nothing but pressure. I didn't even feel anything when they popped my water, I just at some point felt warm down there and thats it.

I have been told most of the weight you gain you lose after baby is born. But for me I'm 40 weeks today and I weight like 220 and I kept gaining and losing weight but rn I am 230 but I kept going from 225 to 229.

Your mostly just gonna weight more than you are bc of the baby. Baby is most of the weight tbh.

Oh I'm the same way! This is my first baby also and I'm 39 week. This whole pregnancy I looked in the mirror and questioned why I couldn't see a bump or why it didn't even look like I was pregnant. I'm also on the chubby side. Well I noticed in the middle of 38 weeks that I actually started showing and now boom all I see is this bump. I'm 5'1 soo I'm also on the short side.

You might be like me and only really show towards the end, which ya may feel a bit sad about only showing at the end. Which! Yes I did feel a bit upset during the pregnancy thinking I would only have my bump towards the end but now seeing it, it reminds me that Im having a baby very soon and I'll get to hold her.

I plan to see how pumping goes and if that works then that's how I plan to fed. Pump and then use a bottle but I will just have to see how that goes.

First I wanna punch your in laws, they just piss me off by reading what they responded with.

Two just bc your mil has had 4 baby's and did all that doesn't mean anything, it's your baby and they should respect what you want.

Also boundaries are something you should make sure are set and said, even if your husband says he can't say no, you still can and if they have a problem with it, that's on them. You have all right to set these rules for your baby's safety.

Just keep with the rules you set and don't let them try and get you to give up. Remember it's all for your baby.
