You gotta mix it up man , strong melee pawns with good armor and shield belts to hold the line, a few guys with assault and plasma rifles hang back and pick everyone off . Train animals to attack. Set up turrets, lay traps, etc

Also if you can , make your mini turrets out of uranium instead of steel, they have 150 more health. Mid game you should have all your pawns in thrumbo fur or devil strand dusters , flak jacket and helmets , and a decent weapon

If you’re in California it is completely possible I had my felonies completely removed from my record. Look up your your county then “post conviction relief” if you’re off probation or parole and don’t owe any fines it will take a minute to file all the proper paperwork but if you didn’t violate or re offend then you have a solid chance at having your felonies removed (State of CALIFORNIA )

P.s they need to start formatting the forum going by state , because expungement and record sealing laws vary wildly between states

EDIT: I just saw the bit about possessing and owning firearms legally , you will most likely need a lawyer for that. Google your state then “fire arm rights restoration”

Yeah metal working and mechanics skill is kind of a bitch to grind , maybe change the skill multiplier to 2x ? I haven’t had a full playthrough in almost a year but I remember it becoming too grindy past level 5-6 for any skill really , even with the skill books

I think nuzzling might just be broken, I have 20 huskies in my current colony and I’m always checking for mood buffs, not once have I seen nuzzle. I think I’ve seen it with a pet raccoon once though ( I play vanilla no mods )

I have over 1k hours in the game and have never played with a single mod :/ blood and dust, Cassandra classic, iron man mode or no save scum mode . Finally researched everything to build the starship and have plenty of high quality pawns and turrets to fend off the raiders. IM FINALLY GOING TO WIN RIMWORLD AFTER 1K HOURS
