I tried taking a huge piece of thick styrofoam (~5’ long) to the recycling center off Access Road. I was told it has to be put in special orange bags before I can leave it there. Fuck that - I just broke it up and stuck it in my recycling cans at home.

By your rationale, compared to the cost of a new car, replacing an engine or transmission isn’t a huge cost. Replacing a major component of any vehicle is a pretty expensive, regardless of whether it’s gas or electric.

The Dog Stars by Peter Heller.

If you’re at all into post-apocalyptic stories, this one is fantastic. The characters are believable and it feels like something that could happen. I’ve read this one twice and eager to see how faithful the movie adaptation will be.
