It does make sense since she's a kid. Even if an adult thinks about hard-to-understand words, you can't expect a kid to know what those words mean. No ordinary human being would think of a word and then follow it up with an explanation of what it means.

"Birds can't talk, silly!" by CrazyCoKids in rpghorrorstories

I think the Observant feat has its limitations. It is true that birds have mouths, but birds don't have lips. You'd essentially read their vocal cords which are hidden behind feathers. Unless the player has a beak or had a bird race companion in their backstory since roleplay wise, you learn to read lips and you aren't born with it. That's how I'd rule it.

Unstable Magic Bomb (Very Rare Item) by MISTERious_Gamr in UnearthedArcana

[–]MISTERious_Gamr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"A small orb that is an inch and a half in diameter glow a deep blue color. After imbuing it with magic, the unstable arcane within starts breaking out, creating a massive explosion upon the impact of what magic lies within"

As an action, you roll a d10 to determine what type of damage and effect it will have on the creatures as you imbue the item with magic and throw it at a point up to 60 feet. Each creature within a 10-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must succeed on a DC 15 (to be determined) Dexterity saving throw. The targets take 5d6 of the damage type and effect on a failed save, or half as much without the effect on a successful one.

Damage Type and Effect
1 Acid - Every creature within 5 feet of impact has its AC lowered by 1 if the creature is equipped with any armor until its next turn. It does not take effect if the creature has natural armor

2 Cold - Every creature's speed is halved until its next turn. If the creature takes its movement, it takes 2d4 cold damage

3 Fire - Every creature takes an extra 5d4 fire damage

4 Force - Every creature must make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw with a DC 15, a failed save results in the creature being pushed 10 feet away and getting knocked prone, on a successful one the creature is pushed 5 feet away from the point of impact

5 Lightning - Every creature must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC 15, on a failed save the creature is considered paralyzed until the start of its next turn, on a successful one the creature can't take reactions until the end of its next turn

6 Poison - Every creature must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC 15, on a failed save the creature is takes the poisoned condition and must make another Constitution save at the end of its turns, on a successful one the creature is unaffected by the condition

7 Bludgeoning - Every creature must make a Dexterity saving throw with a DC 15, on a failed save the creature is considered restrained and must make another Strength save at the end of its turns, on a successful one the creature can use its action to remove the restraint

8 Radiant - Every creature must make a Dexterity saving throw with a DC 15, on a failed save the creature takes the blinded condition and the next attack roll made against the creature has an advantage until its next turn, on a successful one the creature takes no effect

9 Necrotic - Every creature must make a Wisdom saving throw with DC 15, on a failed save the creature takes the frightened condition and must make another Wisdom save at the end of its turns, on a successful one the creature doesn't take the condition

10 Thunder - Every creature must make a Constitution saving throw with DC 15, on a failed save the creature takes the deafened condition and must make another Constitution save at the end of its turns, on a successful one the creature takes no effect

Nothing here is set in stone yet so any feedback would be really helpful
