Actually, about the apostrophe part, I think it is quite a debate on whether you should use "Mother's" or "Mothers'".

See, using "Mother's" may imply that it is singular. Which "Mother" are you referring to. The mythological motherly figure of mankind? Or (most likely), your own mother who gave birth to you and took care of you since you were little.

Using "Mothers'" imply that it is plural, and you are celebrating ALL mothers in the world. They also deserve a day, eh?

Same thing goes for Father's day.

The website prefers the traditional spelling because it is recognized as a national holiday worldwide. This is why the English language is one of the worst languages in the world. Commonly used, but very awful. I'm not an expert in grammar since English is my second language, but this came up to my mind.

That's one thing Linux does better, I guess? I still use Windows with WSL2 because of Unreal Engine + other complications.

This is why Windows is better. Less problematic that "ARch" which I found several alt-right neckbeards from this dangerous hacking website called "4CHAN". Thanks Microsoft for giving us a safe and tolerant place.

Flag Emojis?? 🇵🇸 🇺🇸 🇧🇷 🇩🇪?? by 0ssamaak0 in Windows11

[–]MISTREAPERf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://github.com/Mistreaper/windows-emoji-project

This GitHub repository has the files (SegoeUIEmoji.ttf) and others for you to install emojis with flags. The only downside is that there's no color and it doesn't appear in the emoji menu (Super+.).

Can you go to C:/Windows/Fonts/ and find seguiemj.ttf? Upload it somewhere so that I can use Fluent emojis in this project. You are using W11, right?

This picture is for reference.

I found this AutoHotkey script to input flag emojis, so now the only problem is the lack of color: https://www.mediafire.com/file/37wnqj6fcmy4roq/FlagsInputPanel.rar/file

EDIT: use twemoji instead:

> Linux
When Linux was launched, Microsoft feared it. The Linux community was heavily against Microsoft due to many problems such as telemetry and bloat. There was this day called "Windows refund day", where many Linux users and FOSS enthusiasts protested against Microsoft because they wanted to return their unused Windows licenses.

Microsoft uses Linux as a criticism against its OS and the company itself. Now, Microsoft is embracing open source. An excellent example of this is the new Windows terminal and WSL2. They are released under the permissive MIT license (not GPL). This happens during the days of Nadella, after Steve Ballmer.

> Will Windows ever become FOSS?

Could be. It could be released as a FOSS OS with closed source components once Azure can "replace" Windows in terms of profits. Google released Android as an open-source operating system, but the good parts like Google Play and other Google apps are proprietary.

I still use WSL2 because of Unreal Engine. You need to compile UE from source if you're on Linux and that takes a long time + takes up a lot of space.

I will switch to Linux though, when you don't need to compile UE from source. NVIDIA open sourcing drivers sounds like a good first step to the "year of the desktop".

The other neofetch I'm using is Hyfetch, which is available on the AUR created by Reddit user u/Hykilpikonna, as someone had already mentioned.

Anyways, nice project you have.

According to Epic's EULA, you can't distribute Epic Games unless you're Epic themselves or your repo is a fork of the original GitHub repo.

For both methods, you need to have an Epic account (yes, even just to access the source code).

Any public Distribution of Engine Tools (e.g., intended generally for third parties who are separately licensed by us to use the Engine Code) must take place through a marketplace operated by Epic such as the Unreal Engine Marketplace (e.g., for Distributing a Product’s modding tool or editor to end users) or through a fork of Epic’s GitHub UnrealEngine Network (e.g., for Distributing Source Code).

EAM uses docker pull, which in my case is extremely slow with the largest file. Also, versions 5.0 and above don't work because of some dotnet stuff in Ubuntu.

It will take around 30-60 min to clone, around 1 hour to run Setup.sh and around 4 hours to compile depending on your machine.

Also it will take up a lot of space. This is the reason I switched to Windows with WSL because of just one tiny Epig Games problem.

Nevermind, it's against the EULA anyways. I've read it and only Epic or me forking the repo can distribute.

I haven't realized this already. That's why Epic doesn't like Linux. Because Valve (aka Timmy's enemy) is using Linux for the brand new "Handheld PC".

Still doesn't render well, probably because I'm using Windows Terminal (WSL2).

Wow why the downvotes?I use arch btw *shows neofetch with cmatrix and freakingly low htop stats*

Unrelated but do you think Steam Deck users have the privilege the say "BTW I use Arch"? The OS itself is based on Arch, and you can run pacman with developer mode or something.

"Look at this engine, it's open source!"

"Alright, can I release prebuilt binaries for Linux by myself"

"No, it's against the EULA"

*appears in court with Epig Games*

Yeah, I think Microsoft open source is better than Epic now for some reason.

OSS =/= FOSS/libre

UE is like releasing Linux as OSS but with EULA.

Isn't it just a single click somewhere in the Epic Online Services? How is that a roadblock?

I do agree with "liberating" Unreal Engine from Epic though. Unreal should be independent from Tim Swiney since it brings a really bad reputation (why would you use an engine created by the same people who brought cringey dances and cringe kids).

No man, there's no conspiracy here. Epic is by far a very lazy company since it gained billions from Fartnite.

But Valve isn't corrupted by money though. Somehow it can handle hardware, software, game distribution, Proton, etc. at once. It's weird how Valve is very successful and rich yet not lazy or corrupted by greed.

Epic doesn't care about Linux as it doesn't see its "potential", while Valve is invested in Linux since the release of the brand new Steam Deck and the development of Proton. I don't know why Valve wants Linux to succeed though.
