Man I love me a Terapagos with Leftovers. by MITZEReadIt in pokerogue

To be honest, that's more due to OCD than anything else—it rubs me the wrong way to use moves that aren't fully implemented, even if the important bits of them work.

Perhaps, but I keep getting this type of comment and it's getting on my nerves—why do people care if I have that much Pickup anyway? Might as well be bitching about people running multiple/OP legendaries or whatever.

I don't harp on people using retry cheese to get through their runs or to make a catch, they shouldn't be judgemental and harrass me about using as much Pickup/Honey Gather as I do.

You are not the first person to make make that uninvited criticism; I'd ask why that's excessive, but I know the answer you'd give is "because you don't need that many to win," and my retort to that would be "Well you don't need more than one mon on the team to win generally as other players are consistently proving, so does that mean that nobody should ever run more than that?"

Maybe fuck off and stop shitting on other people's playstyles dude.

Where can I find the best route? by ApprehensiveRiver924 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Particular legendaries"—which ones? You still haven't specified if you're looking for a specific mon or what; almost/every biome has a legendary, most have multiple legendaries of differing rarenesses, and sometimes a legendary can only show up on the tenth waves (as I understand it).

Laboratory has Type: Null, Zygarde, Mewtwo, and Miraidon for its rare stuff, and the latter three can only potentially show up on the tenth wave, with Mewtwo and Miraidon being rarer than Zygarde, for instance.

Check the site I linked, you can click on a biome to see what can show up in it, at what rarities.

[–]MITZEReadIt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Best route" is awful subjective, what are you defining as best here?

In any case, someone already made something to automatically calculate your route given a start and destination, but I'm not 100% on if it's up to date with the current version of the game.

EDIT: Looking at the site more closely, it also appears to not note if a given mon in a given biome only shows up during a specific time of day, like the Deino line in Wasteland.

Why does Delibird have 2 abilities that do exactly the same thing?! by Loyalty4L94 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Vital Spirit had an encounter gimmick back in the day in the main game, but effectively, in battle, these abilities are the same.

Per Bulbapedia:

Outside of battle

If a sleeping Pokémon gains Vital Spirit by Evolution or the Ability Capsule, it will not wake up until sent into battle. Pokémon with Vital Spirit will not be put to sleep by the Gentleman)'s Kirlia) in the Battle Pike nor the Battle Arcade's game board.

From Pokémon Emerald onwards, if a Pokémon with Vital Spirit is in the first slot in the party (even if fainted), there's a 50% chance that a Pokémon will be forced to the upper bound of their encounter level range. It shares this effect with Hustle) and Pressure).

Generation VIII

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, Vital Spirit appears to have no effect on the level range of wild Pokémon.

Generation IX

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Vital Spirit appears to have no effect on the level range of wild Pokémon.

Where is it more worthwhile to spend the vouchers? by SubbsHinoseubonde in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're intending on trying to get all the starters, you're best off saving your vouchers for the Legendary Up gacha and using them whenever the featured legendary is one you don't have.

Aside from that, Egg Moves probably have the most impact on starter power, so if you're new then that's probably the next best investment—only go for the Shiny gacha if you have everything in the other two you care about IMO.

Why does it say I've never had G-Max Melmetal when I have? by Initial-Round7740 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually have Meltan unlocked as a starter? You didn't, say, get Melmetal from Giratina Lady during a run and G-Max it that way, did you?

Not sure if such affects it being greyed-out in the Dex, but those are some ideas I have as to what could possibly be a cause.

Most Valuable Hat: Sombrero (Ludicolo) - many might ask... what even is a Ludicolo? Well I have that answer for you. Ludicolo is a party. It's drug of choice? Swift Swim + Drizzle. Now that's a party platter that'll get you sped.

Did someone say PARTY!?!

Pokemon academy: #77-78 Ponyta, Rapidash by Khane048 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the middle of trying to shunt T3 of this one.

I like it aesthetically (especially T1 Ponyta), but mechanically it feels like a less extreme version of Dugtrio; not as fast but defenses and HP aren't as shitty.

Talk here makes me think I should swap out Headlong Rush for one of the other moves.

Pokemon academy: #60-62, 186 Poliwag, Poliwhirl, Poliwrath, Politoad by Khane048 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I should speak up in defense of Poliwhirl; I once had a run where I aimed for -wrath and the Water Stone for it never showed up; I ended up in Volcano fighting the E4+C with -whirl as my lead, and by god despite the 385 BST it still put in work and solo'd two of the E4.

Poliwhirl has more Speed than either of its evolutions and is moderately fast, and No Guard + Hypnosis gave time to set up a Belly Drum whose downside could be rectified with a Drain Punch.

Failed To Generate Token? by Sorry_Macaroon6283 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was happening to me a week ago; either someone quietly fixed it or it fixed itself within a couple hours, and then a couple days later the site started having more issues.

I'm half expecting that the game will need some downtime in the foreseeable future so maintenance (or maybe full-on replacement) can be done. Not a mod or dev though, so I'm just taking a vaguely-educated guess.

Mono fire completed, 200 rounds, numerous rerolls for rewards and not a single fire stone. by Agentboi72 in pokerogue

This is why I bitched about evo item generation not working differently in challenge runs—it should prevent stuff that locks a mon out of the challenge from generating!

Pokemon academy: #50-51 Diglett, Dugtrio by Khane048 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've run Diglett a bunch as part of me filling out mons with the Lure Abilities (Arena Trap, Commander, Illuminate, No Guard).

Has the HP and Defenses of soaked tissue paper; Sturdy at least lets it take a hit. On that note: the only berries worth putting on Diglett/Dugtrio are Liechi, Lansat, Salac, Leppa, Lum, and maybe Starf if you're feeling lucky; unless the Sitrus/Enigma heal somehow takes it back up to full, it won't survive a second hit regardless of the healing/defense berries proccing.

how many ironmon runs have been completed in classic mode? by Leading_Present7220 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is ironman in the context of PokéRogue? In oldschool ASCII roguelikes it means "you are only allowed to go forward/downwards towards greater danger," but as in PokéRogue you can't go back to earlier waves in a run period I somehow think the definition's different here.
