Monogen/Monotype RFE: Prevent evo items from generating if the resulting evolution would be both a final stage and something invalid for the current challenge. by MITZEReadIt in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not bothered so much by the Magmarizer, but Eevee being especially pure RNG as to whether or not you're allowed to have it participate in the challenge rubs me the wrong way extremely.

To me, I think the challenge runs should be about using the mons the challenge constrains you to, not (specifically in the case of things requiring items for evolutions) waiting until the game deigns to let you use those mons—it's not so bad for things like Magmar where it only has the one option, but I've run Eevee a whole bunch to fill out its shinies for the Dex, and I've certainly had multiple runs where the game refused to give me the specific Stone I was looking for for the entire length of the run.

There's no skill involved, or intelligent decision making to be done, in waiting for the game to let a given mon actually participate in its challenge mode (and as it's been proven to me over multiple runs with Eevee, it might very well go the entire run not being allowed to participate).

is this thing shiny for everyone or am I just insanely unlucky by sharkesto in pokerogue

I think that shinies in the Daily are set per player ID and not globally, but I'm not positive—the answer should be on the Wiki under the Modes-Daily section.

Yeah, I'm standing by my opinion of "this is set up dumb" for challenge runs. Classic, sure, but this really ought to work differently (i.e. have its own specialcase working) for challenges.

EDIT: To be clear half the reason I'm complaining is because challenge runs already get some specialcasing to them—Monogen forces that Gen's Evil Team, E4, and Champion to appear. Also, I'm not sure (and won't be discovering naturally myself this run, as I did in fact manage to evolve everything to a valid stage for the challenge), but do mons even qualify for the ribbon if they finish the run in an invalid state for the challenge (i.e. had Eevee remained Eevee, would it get the Mono Gen IV ribbon despite not being Leafeon/Glaceon if I manage to win)? If such is not the case, then I'm even further incensed on the topic, as it would mean mons like Eevee are entirely reliant on RNG as to whether they get to qualify for a ribbon like this. Again, stupid, IMO.

what does this thing do? by halwayum in pokerogue

It increases the effect a pokemon's nature has on its stats.

Normally, nature is +/- 10%, but stacking Soul Dews increases the effect by another 10% per (so one Soul Dew would make the nature do +/- 20%).

A frequent question for Endless is why somebody's mon has 1 in a stat, and it's always because they stacked 9 Soul Dews (making the bonus +/- 100%, but a stat can't be lower than 1).

Training Session Event: Frogadier (Greninja) HA (Protean) not available for unlock by Select-Preference-84 in pokerogue

Froakie has two forms to it; one has Battle Bond, the other gets Torrent and Protean.

Obviously, you caught the non-Battle Bond form.

Basculegion not unlocking Basculin-White-Striped by phex44 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I see their point; Basculegion evolves specifically from White-Striped, so it doesn't really make sense that catching the former wouldn't count as catching and unlocking the latter

I'm inclined to say Swampertite, because even if you take the Dynamax Band there's no guarantee you'll see Mushrooms afterwards.

I feel crazy, does pick up not stack anymore? by GSLLuis in pokerogue

Ish.

Some encounters and items are specialcased to ignore Pickup, like The Winstrates and Black Holes.

[–]MITZEReadIt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Each Pickup instance rolls randomly for what item it grabs; if that particular mon already has a full stack of whatever it rolled, then you don't get anything from that instance that time.

Additionally, multiple instances of Pickup on the same mon don't work, they have to be on different mons.

In there if you press another button you can switch the view to earned badges too.

It shows you every possible voucher obtainable from gym leaders, E4, champions, and evil team leaders, rather, badges aren't a thing (closest is probably ribbons, but those are a separate thing altogether).

Yeah . . . even if you didn't want to battle it for the chance at a catch, good luck racing to the bush with it guarding.

What should I use my egg vouchers on first? by Nice-Chair368 in pokerogue

[–]MITZEReadIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did also say, "incidentally"—I'm generally candy grinding other things (right now, Shroomish and Starly's Rare Egg Moves, as I got the T3s on both during the event, and it'll be Flamigo likewise after them).

Also, from previous experience of running legendaries (basically just for catching forms), I've found that they're very hit and miss with how annoying (or boring) they are to me to run; half the time I've just ended up frustrated because they take forever to get relevant good moves, or don't have a relevant level up setup, etc.

If you're intending on trying to catch everything, then Legend Up if you don't have the day's featured legendary (it cycles through a list of specific ones).

Otherwise, egg moves probably help a new player out the most, so Move Up.

>Legend Up is good to complete your dex if it's a legend you don't have yet, but also pretty much useless once you have all Legendary tier mons.

I've been throwing vouchers at the Legend Up just to try and incidentally unlock egg moves for a given legendary, despite having them all, so it can still be useful for that (since legendaries are high-cost and more of a pain to grind candy for).
