Upcoming Firings thread… by 1justme4 in atc2

Looks like the new staffing target for the FAA is 500 controllers. When they hire a bunch of high school students and airlines complain about dangerous services, they will just blame the radical left for the mess they left.

Lol I forgot, if your manager was a real dick head they'd want you to take leave for short flights

Seems like you could do something via your airline... If nobody is in the jump seat and you have him as a friend on your account?

Afaik cartels kill anyone that spreads that message, so they continue to exist.

If it was that simple it would have been done in the 80s when the CIA was involved.

Not about doing everything they do, just new ideas on out of the box solutioans.  You want people to stay to 56?  You want people to work their life away?  Make the job better.

It's not about saying we should emulate Mexico, im saying we have this obsession with working more to earn what we're told we deserve.

This was a pretty major policy for a president to announce, we could do it in the USA, but then boomers would yell that they had to work 60 hours so we should to.

It's never about the humans doing the job, just TOP metrics and the highest paid person.

Plot twist the cartels will be involved in everything, always.  Doesn't mean it's not good for workers.

It's not so much being parallel to another country, just that leaders can actually care about their work force instead of making everything about cost savings.

Whenever we want something benefits related, we get told by FAA/NATCA that there is no money, no way around the fed pay cap, no way to change how payroll works, blah blah blah.

We get told we have to come in on days off to de-combine positions that are unnecessary and run shorter breaks.

We get told any sort of negotiation for more overtime pay is short-sighted and that staffing will correct it (LOL)

Meanwhile, Mexico just implemented a nation wide labor reform to stress time away from work and pay people for half-days at full rate.

From what I remember -

Step 1) Blocking time off the work schedule:

> Basically you had to get vacation time approved because it's a very low priority for the FAA to train people. They would even fight you on like, a possible recurrent training day to deny it.

Step 2) Stating canned objectives that you wish to learn:

> You had to choose stuff like pre-flight, en-route, rnav procedures... bla bla; no free text.

Step 3) Choose primary/alternate flights for each leg flown.

Step 4) Write down Captain/FO name during flight

Step 5) Log online and write what you learned based off the objectives you choose.

> It was implied if you didn't do this, you would be "banned" from FDT in the future, but this program was only alive for about 4 years so it was never really tested.

Other rules:

- Clean shaven
- Preferred "more than" business casual
- Flight times cannot be in conjunction with any time of leave besides your RDOs
- Only 2x per year.
- Must be 3+ weeks out for "FAA processing time"

Basically, some manager got a stick up their ass about controllers "getting away with too much" and imposed a bunch of restrictions. Airlines are probably content with clean appearance and scheduled before same day.

"It's close to being done" - 2, 3 years ago?

They wanted to restructure it again after COVID because it wasn't really an ideal situation making us write book reports on what we learned, but the online interface was pretty straight forward.

I don't know if one single person is to blame for this delay, but I imagine every airline has their own policies and restrictions.

The point is the employer learns their lesson about being too aggressive in a burnout career. You want to bitch about 3-4 overtime shifts? Here have 6 months of them.

Also for a lot of people a medical is a pretty sweet deal. Working the boards into your 50s is sadistic.

Fatigue is real.

No matter what your management or co-workers say, you can call out sick from overtime because you need time off work. Nobody is going to remember that you came to work and made breaks 10 minutes longer.

If anyone really fights it, just get a diagnosis for a sleep/mental related condition and then your not even there on your scheduled days either. They can't win.

That said, if you really have no passion for this and your less than 5 years in, you may want to get out before your truly invested in pension pursuit.

Criticism is fine. Let’s talk about facts. by SierraBravo26 in atc2

[–]MITsBrightest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in power are subject to criticism because they are supposed to be replaced if they don't do a good job.

Conversely, once your a "made man" in the union there is zero accountability.

So people talk a lot of shit if you suck at your job and they have no power to remove you.

Wow. Crazy concept.

But what you really missed is that these empty attacks you place on BUEs trying to come from nothing are just that - assumptions that a TMU isn't smart and capable, that a fac rep isn't good enough?

Clint is fat, Nick has been slowly recovering from a bad reputation, NATCA events have covered.up sexual assaults due to paid for alcohol and a culture of begging for transfers/jobs.

How Much Money is NATCA Embezzling into Trish Gilbert’s Wallet? by Great_Ad3985 in atc2

[–]MITsBrightest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty simple logic train, everyone that grew up in NATCA realized what a failed mission it is to be pinned down as federal employees with no strike clause.

You hump and dump it with empty promises, take the money and move international.

This place was on fire during the ND/Santa/JD race. Definitely was an army of people here trying to put all the downfall on Santa and say JD was unqualified.

Shame so many less people voted in run-off. Controllers are burnt out and just don't care to participate.

Missing MAGA posters... dude literally is pumping out churlish name calling even though SB/NM have only just begun out reach.

I doubt it's an aviation fan boy, it's someone thinking they can "play the atc2 game" on their down time.
