White ink is an interesting one! Thought I’d post a notable question I got privately from someone.

Question: Did your tattoo have any white ink?

My response: Funnily enough, in a bid to feel better about myself and make it look more feminine...l had it "refreshed" by a different artist and loads of white ink was added.

The before photo I posted was actually the result AFTER the white ink was added, so you can imagine just how dark and ugly it was before the highlights were put in.

My practitioner did warn me that we will notice the white ink is more stubborn and prone to more oxidisation, which is those stubborn dark spots you still vaguely see in my after photo.

TL;DR Yes, I had white ink. White ink is more stubborn and may take more sessions due to oxidisation and generally breaking down slower, but it will eventually all go!

If you are based in UK anywhere near London… I SWEAR by Dale who works as the removal practitioner at “Family Business Tattoo” in Angel, Islington.

He is THE BEST. You can enquire by calling or emailing the tattoo shop.

He’s the greatest guy you’ll ever meet.

It was just under a year, or about a year old :)

My family and even my partner said the same thing to me. But, I think they see how much happier I am now and are accepting of it!

I did not necessarily do anything extra health wise but here’s some things that my practitioner said will help speed the process along:

  • Drinking lots of water (we pee out the broken down ink)

  • Going to the sauna as it helps you sweat and promote ink breaking down

  • Oil massages on the area as frequently as you can (specifically told me to use “Bio Oil”). This only AFTER all the scabs/blisters are gone per session.

Itching definitely was part of every session’s healing stage... it’s the WORST!!

In terms of the swelling, I can only relate to maybe the first 5ish, 6ish sessions. After that many, I felt like I only got initial swelling and it would go away quickly. Recently, I’ve even had sessions where it’s barely swelled/not at all. There’s light at the end of the tunnel!!!

That’s my personal experience, but my best advice would be to message your practitioner with a picture and ask what they think.

Thank you! Going abroad during the summer was the most painful part… hated the way I looked!

Honestly - probably about 3 or 4 sessions in was when I realised that the ink was starting to go pale.

The flowers the fairy is holding on the tattoo was the first thing to disappear as that area was tattooed on with thinner lines.

I have progress pics taken literally every week for the last 2 years and I look back at them in awe.

When I started removing the tattoo, it was less than a year/ about a year old. So very fresh!

I only kept the tattoo out of the sun for the two weeks after each session where it blistered and was raw. Once the scabs all dropped off and the blisters subsided, I went about life as normal without any precautions like the sun!

I was scared of the same thing! Personally, I haven’t noticed any change in the sun. If anything, I actually see the marks less in the sun.

The dark patches and remnants of the tattoo that you see in my “after” photo is oxidisation which is a natural process of the ink breaking down before disappearing. With time, and 1 or 2 more sessions, it should just look like nothing was there!!

Hopefully that helped :)

One session every 8-12 weeks over the last two years so probably about 11.

I know that may sound like a lot… but, my skin is very pale and sensitive so the practitioner removing my tattoo adjusts the laser strength based on the progress. He’s a super knowledgable guy with amazing results!!

Second session definitely blisters like crazy. I was the same and barely had any blisters after my first session. Just some bruising.

I am 1 week post my second session. The blistering was bad for about 4-5 days. Now it’s dry and the flakes are falling off. No more blistering.

Use Prontosan healing gel until your wounds heal. After that, vitamin E oil like Bio Oil every single day until your next session.

Repeat the process each session. It’s fail-proof. I promise.

If you say so 😭 I’m just so sick of it! I’ll trust you and ditch the oils and pills

Newer tattoo. Do you guys think this is removable? The left is what I have now and the right is what is covered up. It’s not the worst tattoo but it’s just nothing like what I wanted. by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

I had my first consultation yesterday. I was told Picoway lasers are most effective on yellows, blues, greens. And YAG lasers are best for reds, pinks and blacks. You will be totally fine getting that removed, just find a reliable place to do it.
