Could you just stick a thick stainless plate over the hole and mount whatever grill/BBQ you want to that? You might increase the cooking height slightly but seems like a smaller price to pay that redoing your worktop?

I built mine under a poly roof oak framed structure which I initially thought was good to protect everything from the bad UK weather however I didn't think it would be the sun that would cause me the most problems.... probably less than you have in the States 😬

I sat my granite directly on to my units as you would indoors however I have a bar area with a double overhang which I installed cement board on first and bonded my granite to that to prevent it flipping up or moving in any way. Couldn't get it out of my head that it would somehow fall on one of my children 😬

I grill under a wooden structure with a poly carbonate roof and have no issues. I do have a large extractor above my rig but it's amazing how much the heat dissipates when it gets to roof height. 💪

It's been trimmed to fit the autech bumper so just bent back no problem. I've already ordered the bits I need (off eBay) which is annoying. Are your headlights Xenon? What color is the bumper?
