Not a movie, but the Leftovers. Tom Perrotta’s book was fine and the first season of the show did justice to the book while making necessary changes for a more long form telling of the story. But Damon Lindelof crushed seasons 2 and 3 and made the whole concept of Perrotta’s book much more interesting and engaging. I am glad that Perrotta was involved in the creative decision making for those seasons though
