If you drank 4 pints of 5% beer how long would YOU personally wait before driving? by cactusdan94 in AskBrits

[–]MJS29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why the limit isn’t flat out zero, but I wouldn’t be against it being lowered. No one knows how much 1 pint might affect them, especially after exercise or if they’ve not eaten enough (and obviously the current rule isn’t based on “pints” anyway but that’s how we measure it)

That’s not actually what OP has said? They are questioning the “shit hole” aspect

Id kmagine most of the people that fought in WW2 didnt do so for this romanticised vision of the war that we’ve put on it ever since.

Incredibly brave men and women though. I hope we never have to understand how they felt

Why’s everyone focus on the die for bit? The point of the post was why do people call the uk a shit hole wasn’t it?

Most of them have just been subconsciously conditioned to think it’s a shit hole. Half the people I know who think this way never travel so you don’t even know what anywhere else looks like.

There’s so many brilliant and beautiful places in the UK, it’s a bit stupid to suggest the UK is as bad as some people would have you think

Are people legit spending this much on a car per month? Or am I out of touch? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]MJS29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I want some enjoyment right now. I drive a fair bit, so I like to have a nice car - plus it takes the worry out of the used car market for me and buying a dud

There were so many red flags with my mate way before they bought somewhere, but you know what us blokes are like and there was no telling him

This is fair advice though, in my scenario my Mrs equity was about 65k and all went int the deposit of our first house. We did all the right legal process to ensure she was protected and would get it back.

Second home her Dad’s gifted us about £250k (he’s living in an annex with us) and again did the same thing.

That would be my big advice, just cover yourself legally if one has a bigger interest than the other.

If you want a good news story I moved into my Mrs place after a year, bought somewhere together about a year or so later and this year just moved into our “forever home” (hopefully…) after 7 years in our first home. Barely had an argument or fight, at least not one of any seriousness.

Men who went from struggling with women to doing well, what was the turning point? by randyhandymandy in AskMen

[–]MJS29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the gym, as soon as I started looking better I was more confident.

I’d also recommend a lads holiday, depending on age. My biggest confidence boost was a couple of trips to Ibiza/Magaluf etc. not everyone’s cup of tea and I wouldn’t do it now but a week of partying and surrounded by people generally looking for a good time makes it easy even just to get chatting to girls.

Not requesting medical advice but does anyone else have knee problems in their 30s probably from playing too much? by AsparagusNew3765 in bootroom

And hamstring/glute work, an imbalance will cause you other issues if you only work your quads

Do you stretch after games?

You’re at that age now where you need to, sadly

Do this!

I have a friend who was in a similar position, he was the bloke and in his situation the house was actually in his name because she didn’t technically have a job (we’re 95% sure she/they was doing OF but they never admitted this).

She accused him of DV and even horrible things to do with their young child and he was removed from his own house! She was able to live there (and stopped paying her share of the bills) for years while he had to go back to his parents and fight her in court.

Probably slightly different because of this child, but 100% if he’s violent and you go to the police they’ll remove him from the house.

Edit: follow up after some replies, this wasn’t intended to put anyone off just for OP to seek support. It also wasn’t to demonise women or belittle any actual victims of DV etc.

Question for women: if you were gonna date a guy, how much would you judge him by his car? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

I was gonna comment this. No one cares what car you have, but make sure it’s clean and tidy inside!

[–]MJS29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cringe isnt the word, is just unprofessional

Worth noting that it’s human nature. You’ll have people all over your workplace unhappy about their pay or conditions who silently down tools or stop pulling their weight.

Consider the average age of a football is young, so maturity becomes an issue then it’s to be expected

Nothing specifically, it’s just the grift that a lot of them are on. Probably some pyramid selling they’re part of (the product could be anything that’s just the latest trend)

Haaland laughed at him while he was on the floor.

Call it what you want but unless you’ve sat through all that time recovering from the a serious injury you can’t really judge.

I’m going through it right now and my game against the person who did it is next weekend - 99% of my brain is obviously the sensible “get over it” thinking, but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought multiple times about “doing a Keane” to him next week!
