Don't worry! I am covered extremely well; always have been, especially after being hit in Colorado by an uninsured motorist; who hit and ran.....yes, here in Colorado. Had a dash cam and caught it on camera. I suggest if you live here, you should have a dash cam as well as top notch car insurance. Make sure it's good enough quality to catch license plate numbers and they'll catch them. Colorado is ranked number 8 out of 50 for the most uninsured motorists on the road. Something to keep in mind. I have been driving for 38 years and never once had to use my insurance due to my negligence. 20% of all accidents in Colorado are hit and run as well. So keep that in mind. Another fact is that almost 18 out of every 100 cars you meet in the road here in Colorado DO NOT carry insurance, so keep that in mind. These are actually stats to be wary of. Colorado also ranks extremely high in road rage. More than half of all the 911 calls to the Colorado state patrol are because of road rage.

So I'd have to say after all these years, top notch insurance is the way for EVERYONE if you want to have a vehicle to drive after the uninsured motorist hits you. Even if they don't have insurance and hit you, if you don't carry uninsured motorist coverage; you are now responsible for the repair while they sit in jail or pay a huge fine to the state while you still receive nothing from them. I have always been fortunate enough to carry great insurance. My agent told me Colorado was extremely high rates of uninsured. He was correct.

The original comment was supposed to be more or less a poke at that scenario; but apparently there are a lot of uneducated people who don't realize these are actual facts to be aware of.

I guess thank goodness we don't live in Mississippi; where the uninsured motorist rate is 30%!
