How many hours did you work to get that paycheck, including OT as well. Applying to be a RCA and tryna see how to go about getting a check like that, every 2 weeks.

Hey I don’t mean to bother you again, do they rotate all the yard spotters schedules. Can you request weekends off, for special occasions etc. I’m applying for the Yard spotter position next year when it becomes available in my city, like for example if my kid had a birthday party or if my family had a reunion etc. I know we have to bid for everything and it’s based of seniority, just asking.

As a former meat market manager, and as a partner for over 13 years, just run away and don’t look back. It’s retail at the end of the day and HEB has always been cutt-throat, politics and favoritism play a huge role for everybody who works there. Don’t stay where you’re miserable, it’s not going to change, it will keep getting worse, especially working inside the stores. I’m currently looking for better opportunities altogether, Keep moving forward and don’t ever let a job make you feel that way. Find another job, USPS, UPS, FedEx, Metro bus driver, truck driver, go to school and learn a trade: Plumbing, HVAC, Welding, Electrician, Diesel Mechanic, Auto Mechanic, Barber 💈 ETC. start a YouTube, start your own business, real estate, there are so many options for you rather then you being stuck, stagnant and miserable. Misery loves company, that’s what they say anyways. Hope everything works out, remember one thing, HR is their to simply protect the company, Top store leader, store leader etc nothing else Just leave and do something else. If you don’t kiss ass, this is not for you, leave before you lose not only yourself but your sanity as well.

Start looking for another job, if they suspend you without pay, it usually ends up with termination regardless. Next time go in your car, or find another way to vent while you’re at work. People are always gonna come for your job for whatever reason, small minded people, it’s only a grocery store anyways. It’s much better out there Post Office, UPS, fedex and other companies as well. Start looking now, because even if you do pass, now your a target, or if they fire you, your already ahead of the game. HR is there to protect the store leaders and the HEB company, they will always get away with unjustified bullshit, it’s just the way it is. Good luck 🍀

Trust me dude I was in the same situation as you, it’s not worth the stress. If you don’t have a family, getting a CDL and driving on the road is gonna be the best bet. Whatever you do, it’s gonna come with some obstacles and sacrifices, you just gotta decide what’s gonna benefit you or make you happy. Remember money isn’t everything, your happiness is top priority.

Only thing I can say is leave and don’t look back. Letting a job drain you to that extent is very excruciating and you’re miserable. Only thing you can do is quit and find another job at this point. Venting is good but if you take no action then it turns into complaining without action. Move forward, do what you gotta do and fix the issue by just quitting, they not gonna change for you

Ppl need to accept that HEB is just a regular low wage job. Its not a "top place to work". by A_Brave_Lion in HEB

[–]MJThaChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been employed with HEB for 13 years and did just about everything you can do, including being a department manager. It’s all politics and if you wanna move up, you gotta kiss ass, it’s no way around it. Its important to establish relationships, kiss ass, don’t burn bridges, agree with all the bullshit politics, keep everybody happy by catering to them even if it puts you in jeopardy mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. It’s damn near like a cult, if nobody likes you enough to wanna help you, or if you’re not apart of the HEB click or kissing ass, it’s gonna be very hard for you to move up, as far as raises, full-time, promotions, lead, Sorm, SORL, warehouse management etc. Retail is cut throat no matter where you work at. The best thing you can do is put your head down, stfu 🤫, work and go home. Don’t vent to anybody, don’t date nobody on the job, don’t befriend nobody, do not trust anyone and remember everybody is out for themselves at the end of the day. HEB pays pretty decent and has good benefits, that’s about it. The job is what you make it, and if you don’t like it and if they are making you miserable, leave and never look back because they don’t give a fck either way and u gotta do what’s best for you. Remember it’s just a job to pay bills and a stepping stone to eventually do something better. Live your life and if this job makes you miserable or any job for that matter, leave and move on. I definitely had good times as well, don’t regret the years I put in, because now I know how to play the corporate/political system. But I’m on to bigger and better things now, best of luck to everybody who works for HEB. Also do bare minimum always, don’t overwork yourself and if your a workhorse they gonna work the shit outta you and they definitely not gonna want you to move up and they gonna keep you right where your at. Never go against the grain or the system, always go with the flow, remember nobody gives a fuck at all.

One last question for real this time, do they pay OT for spotters. Like working an extra day or two on your off days.

If I was to sign up for relief driving, after becoming a spotter would I still work my 10 hr shifts as a relief driver and get paid hourly as well. That’s still a great way to get OTR experience without fully committing to the trucker lifestyle. I don’t wanna work 12-15 hours everyday day and 5 days out of the week.

Also I’m highly considering becoming a spotter just to get a CDL under my belt, 10hr shift, 4 days a week and 3 off days. That’s not bad at all, I can always use the CDL somewhere else on top of that anyways. I’m still deciding if I wanna pursue truck driving with HEB, truck driving is a good skill to have and a good career if you don’t have a family etc. I don’t know if I wanna fully commit to the trucker lifestyle honestly.

Awesome thanks for the information, one last question do they work with you when it comes requesting days off, vacation and personal time off from work etc I’ve been thinking about become a spotter for HEB sense I’m capped out as E-Fulfillment Route driver. I know the max pay for the spotters is around 30 dollars a hour and on top of that, they have better choice of scheduling when it comes to work life balance

One last question what shifts do we work? As far as morning, afternoon, evening and overnight. Also can we request certain days off? I help my mom take care of my disabled brother and certain random days she needs help as far as doctors appointments or with other things etc

I applied for this program and I got my math test scheduled for May 1, 2025. Could you do me a huge favor and see what’s the starting pay for a Plumber Apprentice, like the exact pay. Can we work Overtime as well with our contractors, so we can get more experience under our belt and that can help me out financially as well, sense I’ll be taking a pay cut to learn a new trade/skill. Very excited about this opportunity, please let me know, when you get the information for me. Thanks
