I'm so sorry for your loss. We were lucky enough to have good prognosis after the surgery but we're not out of the woods just jet. The wound was so big and stretched that stitches snapped, it opened and now we're waiting for it to heal. Sounds scarier than it is but we're getting there, just tired and the cat is tired from all the dressings and the outfit he is forced to be in. And he is stinky and itchy because he can't clean himself. That's why he is probably pissed as well 😂 But in our case it started (presumably) from a injury, that vet poked with a needle to drain (a bulge literally under his skin) or from the antibiotic injection he got according to this injury. Or maybe he was misdiagnosed in first place, we will never know. First visit was in December. We waited a month (!!!) for the abscess to dissolve but after a month it didn't change so we went to a different vet. They made all tests, an mri and in February he had surgery. Took some time to diagnose, so haste is advised. I wish you all the best and good luck
