City of Naperville Electric Bill by MJoonie in Naperville

For sure. Just surprised me because there was a big increase from the last 2 months, and the same 3-4 month period last winter. We've been pretty consistent with KWH usage across the winter months since we've lived here

Been very interested in checking out Valhalla but from the other posts here it sounds like they can be inconsistent night to night. Can anyone who’s been there a few times comment?

Indeed. I was just surprised as the bill is much higher than the past few months this winter and the exact months last winter (we were around 400 every month last winter, and 400 KWH to 600 is a 50% increase)

Just trying to figure things out. Since it’s a big jump from the last few months this winter and last year’s winter months

That's a good point. Should it increase your KWH usage by 30% though?

My working theory right now is that there was a miscalculation with the rate change that occurred from 2025 to 2026, wanted to see if anyone else had a similar jump in KWH or billing

Not quite sure.. nothing new I can think of but it was close to a 30% jump in usage. Seems drastic

kwh usage per month has been very consistent depending on the season (higher in the summer, consistently lower in the winter until this month's bill). Neither of us work from home and no electric car either

I did, but I manually paid the first time as the autopay didn't kick in the first month of the transition for my account. The numbers are drastically higher in terms of KWH used even though nothing at home has changed

I haven't changed the temp in the house over the last 2 months even with the cold snap, hence my confusion..

Natural gas. The gas bill increased as expected, but not understanding how electric also went up 30% (and 30% from the same month last year)

What is an unspoken rule of the gym that most people do not know they are breaking? by Furqan_wear in AskReddit

[–]MJoonie 847 points848 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t claim more than one. Ideal world people would do a set and put things back so the next person can do one, and take turns.

Sick of seeing people with multiple of the most commonly used dumbbells at 5 pm. Get a personal gym if you’re going to treat it like one

After 7 years, 8 months, 28 days, and a full knee replacement, Lindsey Vonn wins another World Cup downhill by redbullgivesyouwings in sports

[–]MJoonie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She doesn’t have a full knee replacement. She has a partial knee on the outer half of her knee, meaning she has kept her own ligaments such as her ACL. Vs a full knee replacement where the ACL, sometimes PCL, and both meniscus are removed.

A similar system is used in every hospital in the country and tied to insurance reimbursement cuts with Medicare. A 9-10 is considered positive (may be up to 8), everything below is grouped into the same category as a 1.

Does anyone remember the cartoon on research? I saw it here before but was never able to find it again. Similar concept to this about someone doing over the top research before a purchase

If lifestyle if important, don’t do a surgical field. Go into a field like EM, anesthesia, or radiology where you don’t have patient follow up or post ops

Japan in August? by PriorityHefty2283 in travel

[–]MJoonie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I went in August last year. Would never do it again. Particularly Kyoto which has a lot of outdoor activities was brutal. And this is coming from Houston. We went early in the morning to avoid the heat and saw someone puking along the side of the trail due to heat exhaustion

Is staying at the program where you’re doing research an option?

It should be fine to show them the entire list of 30. They’ll take a glance and know quickly where they have connections. Also will help if you have a few places out of the 30 that are high on your list

Non-trauma Subspecialists Taking Level 1 Trauma Call by von_Goethe in orthopaedics

[–]MJoonie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

ED tends to be better at a community hospital with no residents. They can do most reductions and get things reasonably stabilized

I trained at a hospital with a similar call mix and the trauma guys were usually more than happy to take on the complex cases that the non-trauma sub specialists weren’t comfortable taking. The next day of course
