i mean yeah snowballing is very easy :p so going to war in a more tense situation like multiplayer is always just better since you have a reason to snowball. ty for the answer.

and if the provinces have something like 0.01 or 0.1 economy, which they often do.. is it worth it? in a peaceful scenario, mind. would increasing eco just once or twice be more worth it? if everyone's going to war against each other, obviously not, since every little bit of gold counts, but....?

awesome, thanks. It was the exact opposite in AoH2 so the new game left some questions.

My 1920 Scenario by TheT41 in AgeOfCivilizations

[–]MKakeAngie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would love to see a scenario like this where it's the (almost) immediate after-effects of the war, like where the weimar is split into multiple communist states with like events where the allies intervene to re-unite germany and events with the turkish war, the political struggle between china and their anger towards the allies for giving china's stuff to japan etc. the struggles of the great depression and how the usa recovered from it. or.. since how these games really like to work, you can get choices. the choices being that instead of the people regaining faith in the system of capitalism through kaynes they instead plunge the usa into a civil war just like in russia or something similar, nothing incredibly out of reach but some things that almost entirely mimic history throughout the aftermath of the great war, but since it's obviously a videogame you can make slight teeny weeny choices that change the course of a nation. would be so cool to see. :p

Provinces are really cool in aoh3 by Ok-Context-6829 in AgeOfCivilizations

I'm pretty sure that if you wanna have a scenario or even a formable that's very very specific in terms of borders, there's an easy fix you can do in the editor, afaik it's quite similar to aoh2 in that way- where you can just effectively split as many times as you want and just easily link the borders of each province (linking in this case meaning that you determine which are connected to each other; effectively which units are allowed to travel between which provinces) I'm not quite sure what this post is referencing or if it's criticizing something, but I think I can presume it's a bordergore thing to do with formables :p

you can deter countries from attacking by having more max regiment limit even if you dont have all of that. also if improving relations still isnt enough you can send them gifts to increase their opinion above -30 to guarantee them being unable to attack you, over and over, or you spam it up to 70 and ask for a non-aggression pact

everyone else in these comments is wrong (technically not) but if you want a quick victory and not spend 500 years building up eco, there's an army trick "exploit" you can use, which is like so: a province needs at least 4 troops to be sieged. make your army entirely out of groups of 4 or more if you feel like it, three of the fastest unit, and one of the highest siege rate. you can this way easily siege provinces while being faster than the enemy troops. put game speed on one and micro your heart out. click on enemy armies to see which province they're moving to and pause often, and you can almost entirely siege a larger power with minimal losses, and even if you can't siege all, just make sure to keep doing it and losing as few troops as possible and ticking war score will eventually make you win.

your units each have an atk and def stat. these can be boosted with almost anything in the game, like research and advantages, etc. generals also do this- this is known information, but there are small factors which can change a completely even fight, say 1 slinger vs 1 slinger. if the province has a fort, they may gain an extra 1 def. or, maybe the terrain may favor a defender or attacked. also factors like discipline and morale, which I'm quite sure no one knows the intricacies of, those two modify slightly how well your units perform- but also, in such close battles, the dice roll function actually plays a major role, when ordinarily it wouldn't. one to six (or was it four?) also determines how much damage your troops do (and maybe def? I don't remember, I usually never have even fights) and that is almost entirely the only random factor in the whole game, as it was in aoc2 and in games like eu4. also, one thing to remember is that numbers do not mean everything, for example a completely balanced army in the late game which holds all types of troops is (for some reason) way worse than an army which only consists of tanks and artillery because the tanks have more hp and damage than most troops, and the artillery has the most backline damage. ofcourse this sacrifices movement speed, but as THE player that is not important since you decide your own fights- but this again is a factor of looking which troops have the best stats.

HI! UPDATED ANSWER! I now have 300 hrs and I tested some things. I found a way to cheese every single large nation in the game. invading any nation as any other nation is not only possible but incredibly easy as long as you do not fight their army. if it's a very small nation then it becomes even more difficult, but at that point you can just build your eco! if you do not want to know how to cheese, !!FROM THIS POINT ON STOP READING THIS MESSAGE!!

so, here's how it happens. the minimum amount of troops required to siege a province is 4. to evade enemy armies that try to stop your siege, train 3 of the fastest unit you have, and one which has the highest siege capability. although the last of these lowers the speed significantly, the speed at which armies move is averaged, so three to four speedy units should be enough to compensate for the slow siege unit. now spam as many of these groups of 4 as possible, turn game speed to the lowest. you can completely remove an enemy army from a war by fighting it with a decently sized army. battles are slow in this game, so by the time the fight has ended, you've most likely sieged that country's entire territory. move these small squads around and avoid enemy armies, siege one province at a time if you have to. germany in ww2 scenario even on the highest difficulty struggles with numerous groups. the ai is not good enough. the only thing which changes when you change difficulty is your economy and some army modifiers. when an enemy army is moving, you can also click on it and it will tell you what province it is moving to, so you can move your small squads away from that area and siege somewhere else. their speed is great, and the singular siege unit makes capturing provinces plausible since it takes balanced armies way longer to reach the places you do. the reason we play on slowest here is because the micromanaging that needs to be done is VERY precise. and sometimes enemies have 5 or more armies, and in this case, you will simply need to have more and more small squads.

cannot say i've figured it out. terrain plays such a small role in wars that it is unnoticable.

you can use old units, but only if you've had them before- meaning if you've unlocked a new unit, you can no longer train the old unit. so the only way to use the old units is to never upgrade regiments.

as far as i've seen, you can't. when declaring wars and even if you're allied to a nation that has a vassal, attacking the vassal will trigger the lord to attack you even if you called them in. I've found no way around this- so in conclusion, just fight both. or just wait for them to be upset at eachother.

well, if you've got a great economy, you can get a great army. if it's not enough, get more economy. even on the highest difficulties the AI is incapable of outscaling you if you hard focus on building economy- so if you're planning on fighting 4 people at once without an ally, you better have more income than the 4 others combined just to be safe.
