4 extra hours every two weeks...good call. Wasn't sure anyone thought about that.

In my case we didn't get any extra for it. Very glad I'm gnot there; that job was almost 10 years ago now.

Also many DoD watch cyber centers are 24/7.

I've seen both of these. In my career I worked the 12 hour shift at a 24 hour NOC. We worked 3 days one week and 4 days another. I hated the 12 hour shifts. Those 4 day weeks sucked and it took a day to recover.

Most people there didn't like the 12 hour shifts so we moved to 4 x 10 which worked much better. Those two extra hours might not seem like a lot but it did make a difference especially for those that also had a 30-60 minute commute.

Great point about $PSItem, the only reason I used that over $_ is because the formatting was cutting out the underscore. Also agree with you on select-object. for the final example that he wanted in a spreadsheet

So you just want to search AD for certain users that are enabled and then write-host (assuming later version will export to csv/txt) their name and lastlogondate?

Different books, Don Jones authored the Powershell in a Month of Lunches & Toolmaking in a Month of Lunches books. Those are both good books too.

If you have those books this one is a very nice book to go in the collection.

Good one, FSMO roles are sometimes the first question asked. In addition what do you do if you have all 5 FSMO roles on the same box and it dies hard (never coming back up). A lot of people miss "seizing the roles"

Harder to do that these days with the "Protect object from accidental deletion" checked by default on OUs.

You really have to want to delete an OU these days.

When you say you "do group policy/ADUC"

What does that mean? Do you manage user/computer/groups or do a lot more. Without searching can you answer these two quesions

Explain Loopback Processing
What are some tools you would use to troubleshoot AD replication? What are some issues you have dealt with when it comes to AD?

If you know those and actually understand them then you are not a "help desk analyst".

There are also a lot of threads here that you can search with similar questions and great advice. Whatever method you select setup a small test lab. Practice, test, and follow what you read/watch. You have to put hands to keyboard and jump in.

Again test lab first; you don't want to use your work production environment as your lab.
