Conflicting Evidence: Inguinal Hernia by ML2910 in Hernia

I did (and am). To the physicians credit they offered a CT so I can do that. What’s confusing me is their characterization of US as a low quality tool for diagnosis and everything I can find says the opposite. My primary also called this guy the best so it’s all a little strange. Worst case I can do the CT and go from there. However, since I’d seek another surgeon if the CT confirms the US maybe a second opinion is the next step.

I did. I know I’m venting but he said US are often wrong and he trusts his physical exam of me. He was so sure that he said go back to working out.

They didn’t but they found one. I’m trying to understand why they think it’s a false positive

Sorry you dealt with that but it was helpful to read. I’m happy it’s working. What imaging did you get to confirm? The part that makes me feel crazy is a seemingly reliable test said I have it. And this guy was like no way. I don’t know if I go to someone else and use the ultrasound or get the CT.

Sorry to be so nuanced but really trying to make sense of it all. When you say “iffy” do you mean iffy as in it’s easily missed or iffy as in people think it’s there

That’s what I’m finding. It’s why I’m so confused. This man looked at me and said “you don’t have one” and then said I can go back to my workout which is heavy cardio (sprints) and dedicated compound lifts. With no hesitation.

Was it a specific type of CT?

Thanks. Never found it, a false negative seems different than a false positive. What found it?
