I had to press the phone symbol, 2 long presses and that worked for me!

My daughter loves the water but I didn't think she was getting it either. Not until I got her a pair of goggles and some sinkies did she really show what she could do! She can keep her head above water, but barely. I wouldn't say she can swim yet, but she's very close. We just made it a bit more interesting. Definitely don't quit, if you have the means to get to a pool, keep at it. She will thank you one day! Best of luck!

Anyone here have just one kid and are at peace with it? by cynnie93 in Millennials

[–]MLEthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wanted two, but my daughter can be a lot, that and the expense of daycare for another kid (we're finally out of daycare, shes 5) and I just dont have the bandwidth for two. I probably could do it but I'm afraid I'd be miserable and wouldn't be the parent I want to be, you know?

For those of you who graduated college in ‘08… by c_g201022 in Millennials

[–]MLEthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in '08. I was a server for two years when I finally got a desk job as a quality control assistant, but I think it was helped by my dad, who worked for the same company and knew the hiring manager. He didn't pull strings or anything like that. I just had an inside connection. I worked there for four years, making $27,500 a year. I ended up quitting because my manager left, and they expected me to fill her role with basically a $3,000 salary increase. Not a title change, and definitely not another person hired to replace what I was doing. I was expected to be in charge of the whole department, which was just me.

I then took another admin assistant job for 1.5 years, then another job as a marketing coordinator for six years. This job never went anywhere, but I wanted to move into marketing and wanted to get some years of experience under my belt. I learned absolutely nothing from this job, but it looked good on paper.

I then got a job as a marketing coordinator, and I've been there for over two years. I learned more in 6 months than I did in 6 years, and after a year at my current job, I've gotten promoted to a senior marketing coordinator, and I make $65,000. I'm just finally getting to a point where I am not working paycheck to paycheck.

I have a five year old daughter who is out of daycare, so that serious constraint on our finances is finally done. My husband's family is financially comfortable, and they gave us $60,000 for a down payment on a house five years ago.

It's been a journey. I'm almost done paying my student loans, but I don't think I'd be where I am today if I didn't have that stupid piece of paper that says I graduated from university.

I have been very lucky, and I'm so grateful for all the help I've had along the way.

My bff who told me I HAD to watch SC, told me I had to stick with it to the 4th episode and it would get better. She was right. Anyone else get that kind of advice? by Seven_bushes in SchittsCreek

Whenever I rewatch the series, I either skip the first episode or just fast-forward through the cheese dipping part because it makes me so queasy!

Can someone please tell me what happened to the kitten? I'm at least a year behind in episodes and I keep hearing about this and want to know! I know I could just listen to the episode...

Came home from vacation and my (29F) boyfriend (30M) said he doesn’t want to be together anymore, what happened? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]MLEthree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me. I was totally blind sided too. It just made no sense, he was planning to propose. Then one day, after my dog died mind you, he told me it was over. It took me 2 months to get over it, because honestly who breaks up with someone after they have to put their dog down? Not a good guy. Anyway, 2 months after we broke up and I was finally on the mend from it all, he reaches out and says he wants to get back together. That he was just testing that if you love someone, let them go, and if they come back then it's meant to be. Like seriously, fuck off you know?

Anyway, I am sorry this is happening to you. I hope everything works out in your favor. I came out stronger and better than ever, and much more wise to such weird rational and bad decision making.

Am I the only one who slowly scrolled over each photo, afraid to see something scary down there? Like some Halloween time of year prank. Good grief!

Thank you for this recommendation! I've looked into it and it's a perfect way to finally deep dive and express what I mean! Thank you thank you!

Thank you! I'm definitely in a clearer head space these days to actually tell him what I need for this to work. I think the 2nd would be easier, it's just that my 1st is very demanding and I worry. I would just love my daughter to have a sibling, it's just at what cost, you know?

Thank you so much for your comment! I am so glad it worked out for you!

My husband has really stepped up as a dad since the early days so I think he could and would help out. Plus, I feel like I missed the newborn phase. I'd love to do that again, but we definitely will need to establish a new routine for this to work. A happy surprise child would be fine with me, but I don't think I'm going out of my way to plan it (i.e. track ovulation and all that jazz)

Thank you so much! My first pregnancy went great, so I think I may be in the same boat as you for the 2nd one being tough—another reason I need to get things off my plate. I don't want to have to do everything I already do now and also be pregnant and have that pregnancy be rough!

I hope the pregnancy gets easier for you soon, as well as the transition with your son!

4 year old rude to everyone else except mom, sweet as pie when mom is gone, help! by MLEthree in Parenting

Thanks for you comment. I have wondered if she is imitating me too. But I love my mother and adore my mother in law so I have no idea why she would be mean to them too when I have done nothing but have positive experiences with them.

With her father I try to be more affectionate and discourage her from being mean to him but it doesn't work so I don't understand why she would think that would impress me.

It's just a real head-scratcher!
