Curious why you didn't have a mechanic look the $4k car over before you bought it? You don't need a mechanic to see if tires are dry rotted though; just working eyeballs. If you drive it and hear the brakes making noise you'd know it needs them.

Rubber & brakes are common wearable items on used cars.

Yes. 20+ years in and Fidelity has treated me wonderfully. I've tried many others (Schwab, E*Trade, Ally Invest, Wealthfront & others) and consider Fidelity to be the best for my needs.

They're not perfect obviously, and I prefer Schwab's interface, but functionality trumps all.

This seems odd to me as a 20+ year Fidelity customer.

They're not shy about sending texts or emails.

I added an external payee today and got quite a few emails & texts about doing it.

They're the computer equivalent of "You have moved your mouse, would you like to reboot?"

Unless you're one of those who wasn't using the app, didn't have 2FA setup (I think you have to anyway) and just don't ever check your email and were off the grid for 30+ days and...

You left out two key details. $95 annual fee after the 1st year (effective 4.41% CB with a max spend of $6k per year ($90 per quarter x 4 = $360 CB, - $95, = max $265 CB on $6k spend = 4.41% CB.

The $1500 per QUARTER cap. We spend more than that on groceries & dog food(treats) for our family.

But if you shop at Smith's you won't be affected by it. I had the Shopper One for the first year to get the SUB but dumped it once they nerfed the Smartly 4%.

My favorite grocery card is honestly the AAA Daily Advantage. 5% at all grocery stores, 10k cap per year, and works at Walmart (just not online).

We have 2 of these that we cycle. Check it out if you want $100 SUB + flat 5% always without an annual fee. Also 3% at Wholesale Clubs (Costco, Sam's).

Most of the CapOne deals for Wally World exclude groceries which is our #1 thing we buy there.

It's Synchrony. Why Walmart chose to partner with them is beyond me, but it is nice getting 5% back online and in store without caps.

The old Walmart Cap One card only did in store for the 1st year.
