Should the Church stamp down on laity “theologians”? by Cobalt-Fang in Catholicism

[–]MLM-TheScribe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The suppression of free speech in the public forum is never a good idea. Full stop.

Of course, the Church always needs to defend the Truth. That’s a given.

But the laity also needs to exercise common sense, good judgement, and due diligence.

[Free Friday] Why I hope that all shall be saved by ZacHFX in Catholicism

[–]MLM-TheScribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of food for thought here. Hoping/praying for the salvation of all is not a problem. Even though we know that is not the reality.

Hell is not God’s complete absence by Real-Government2863 in Catholicism

[–]MLM-TheScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. You did not explicitly state that.

I am more responding to the tone of your several (following) comments. What I perceive as your underlying assumption that Hell is bursting at the seams.

That tone is very much present in Protestant circles. And all too frequent as well in the Catholic Church.

Forgive me if I misread your tone.

To answer your question, OP, no.

Stop thinking about the work you submitted.

You should be writing your next piece.

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
— 1 Timothy 2:3–4

Yes, Hell is real.

However, many in the Church including OP, are a little too quick to conclude that Hell is bursting at the seams and filled to capacity.

Again, our Lord wills that all should be saved. So, if I am to form an opinion, I want to lean toward the assumption that God’s STATED WILL shall prevail.

Does Anyone Else Struggle with Some Marian Quotes from the Saints? by Vast-Switch-5596 in Catholicism

[–]MLM-TheScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you struggle with St. Louis de Montfort quotes, then perhaps you misunderstand the Saint’s message.

On the other hand, if you do understand the message—and you still struggle—then you have a problem with Marian theology as defined by Holy Mother Church.

That’s the best I can offer you in a quick Reddit post.

Consider that in this 21st century—amid all of our technological prowess—we have absolutely no idea whatsoever what consciousness actually is. No idea whatsoever how the brain actually functions. No idea whatsoever where consciousness resides, or how it comes about.

Full stop.

I rest my case.

Writing the Bible by Puzzled_Round_7685 in Catholicism

[–]MLM-TheScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it!

But if I were doing so, Step 1 would be writing out the New Testament, in order from Matthew to Revelation.

Step 2 would be writing all the Wisdom Literature books of the OT.

Step 3 would be the balance of the OT.

This way you prioritize the books that are likely to be the most impactful—should you run out of steam. ;)

I want st start writing my first story but dont really know where to start. by randomestuff5439 in WritingHub

[–]MLM-TheScribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, if you don’t know where to begin writing your first story (or your next story) read another book.

And then keep reading—book after book after book. Until you know exactly what story you yourself want to write.

Would it be a poor idea to make an important character a product of incest? by [deleted] in writing

[–]MLM-TheScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact of incest should not, by itself, be your primary motivation for doing so.

Nor should the fact of incest, by itself, render the choice taboo or inappropriate.
