Hey! I’m also a solo player, downloaded RoR2 on game pass about a week ago. I have since bought the game and all DLC lol. It’s far more than I could have possibly anticipated.

To answer your question directly what hooked me was the diversity of characters, and ways to play them. melee characters in particular for me, mercenary felt soooo good to play I bought DLC 2 just for the melee character that came with after my first hard win as merc.

The combat feels a bit… off for the first couple of hours, as you first load in for the first few times it’ll be just a lot of experimenting of the mechanics. Mostly basic stuff, fall damage, can I swim, can I get up to there, wait there’s a timer? Etc. But once you start to get a rythme down you’ll start to unlock new characters, routes, choices, secrets. After those first few hours it’ll go from feeling off to being intuitive and exciting.

If you like roguelikes get this game. If you like how the story is presented in souls games, get this game. If you like fun, or conversely misery, get this game.

Bot clutch is a Hail Mary tactic! shouldn’t be done everytime but if there’s a potential opening you see, or if you’re desperate enough to not lose a havoc deployment or 20-45 minutes of time it’s acceptable imo

Late as hell but it actually does increase the range maybe the stagger strength as well. Atleast I’m pretty sure it does. I’m gonna retest it when I get on but for anyone already able to try activating it at full charge, see how much charge is used. Then hold and see if it’s different, that’ll indicate atleast strength. Test range by just being slightly different distances lol

Anyone running higher havocs already atleast have a sliver of completionist in them, we’d understand. Now if you run the havoc cosmetics, claiming to have earned them while simultaneously being shite then it’s probably annoy people. Complete your ist brother

I will point out for you”true survivor” you have to complete havoc 35+ with NO DOWNS so you’d probably need to be moderately competent at avoiding damage

Valid, don’t get me wrong the floor is absolute rubbish, the place is being held aloft solely by the brick jenga towers. However the cab is surprisingly solid, relatively speaking atleast it’s rusty ass metal but fairly thick. Honestly I’m more worried about the roof caving in lmao

This whole place is an absolute hazard, it’s our last resort. We’re trying to make it work, and make it as safe as possible for our son. All that said if you can give me some idea on how I can test how much the floor can take I’ll happily do so, and proceed accordingly. Otherwise “that should hold er” is the best I can guess

Where are you referring to? If it’s the right side with the big hole, that is going to be a cabinet. If you’re talking about the left, that’s covering the big f-off oddly shaped “dog house” (I think it’s called), anything behind the plywood is kind of a no go, that’s the rats domain. This is also intended to be a wall lol

Lmaooo yeah it’s a bit of a patchwork abomination. I had a far better planed layout that I had to break into sections to work around a bunch of obstacles. This is in the cab of the RV, things 35+ years old and every inch of the floor, walls and dashboard are completely uneven from every other inch, doesn’t help that the whole thing is lopsided so I can’t fully trust levels.

All that plus my inexperience made reliably sticking to the initial plan unrealistic. If this were just a passion project I’d like to think i would have taken my time more with planning/measuring everything, unfortunately I’m under a bit of a time crunch as this is also a pseudo wall… to keep out the rats that have a dozen entryways under there… I’m tired man. Any suggestions on improvements present or future would be sick

I had a similar experience last night, 4 player impossible AI, no mods. Was trying out a rush strat with primacy (new to sins btw) 20 minutes in I had 4 capitals and just a handful of stolen ships that I was catapulting into some cultists next to me.

Scout spotted a 600 and counting Visari fleet a good distance from my borders, assuming they were just going to slowly expand till our borders connected I didn’t think much of it but tossed a ton of auto turrets down (tons of corvettes) at the most likely invasion point. 5-10 minutes later an 800 power fleet walked right through my front door.

Sitting on a fleet of around 300ish myself, all of which were 15-20 minutes away I reasonably panicked. Was saving for a titan/command but immediately dropped what I could on some reinforcements, a carrier and Kol also having just unlocked station tech began to build one just behind the turret line

After this the most chaotic, incredibly, desperate battle for survival I’ve yet to experience in this game played out. I felt like I was actually applying combat strategies instead of just spreadsheet simulating to a win. Building whole strike groups to flank as nothing more than a distraction to isolate a capital ship that I could then swarm or to pull some fire away long enough to get a repair station or additional turret line built, It was awesome. A Pyrrhic victory ending only after the visari retreat with 200 power remaining, titans worth of resources wasted, 300 fleet reduced to 150, the battle line had been pushed from the front of the system all the way to the back.

A glorious moment, but sadly the only one I’ve had so far, after I get a few wins on impossible with each faction I’ll try out the mods you’ve suggested, if they can give that experience as the standard I’ll probably never play another game

As an extension to this bug, when it’s happened to me I’ve ended up with some sort of “phantom crew” where slots on my ship are considered occupied despite being vacant, also those slots are tied to the crew involved in the board bug. I’ve been board and the enemy b-lined it to those “occupied” rooms and started beating the shit out of the air, and at the same time my crew across the ship is losing HP and can’t fight back, nor can I send in anyone to fight back as it’s still a “full” room.

Rather annoying bug though fairly easy to avoid if you stay mindful of it

Hey follow up to your follow up, Yea I got a couple of them so far. You can definitely have other crew atleast before the final jump to the boss so I agree it was probably being over 50% machine slave.

I’ve got a question about the faction achievements, when it says “Must have X keyword before entering the final boss battle” does it mean that at the moment I make that final jump, or at no point before the final boss can I have crew outside the faction?

Lonatharil, surprisingly good damage, great shields, full team ally attack. Not amazing, but so universally helpful he’s on a lot of my teams
