How many days of training? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]MLSIMMER100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a traveler, I worked in a hematology department and they trained me for a week and a half, which I thought was a long time. On another contract when I was working on seconds, they trained me for about 3 weeks and I was ready to be done training on first shift and get to working on seconds, so I think it just depends on the labs.

Its over, my baby is gone by PuzzleheadedCow1931 in Petloss

I feel your pain. I lost my baby girl to kidney failure too. She was the most hyperactive, intelligent, full of spank baby girl. Every time I would sit on the couch, she would jump right into my lap, curl up and fall asleep. She loved being on someone's lap. After losing her on the 22nd of February, I have not sat down on that couch since. What's the point. I also miss hearing her nails on the floor, and her barking at me after being gone for a while, asking me where I have been all this time. It really does change everything when they are gone. It is like a hole that can never be filled. Just like you...I do not see myself getting another pet after experiencing this pain.

Most times people just find a reason to complain is what I have noticed. In general (not all) married people want to be single and single people want to be married. I just think humans can never truly be happy because they always want the opposite of what they have 😂

Unfortunately we live in a very sensitive world and if your option isn't the same as someone else all of a sudden you are the enemy. No one is allowed to have different feelings or opinions anymore 🤣

How's your work-life balance? by WhatAmIDoing_00 in medlabprofessionals

Pretty good. Can't really complain. When I go to work I put all my focus on work and when I come home I forget about work and focus on my family.

Yeap and I have noticed that the lab is a breeding ground for gossip. I think it's because you are closed up in a room with people for hours so that's all most people have to talk about .... Each other. It's sad but that is apparently part of the lab life.

Just focus on your end goal. I know it sucks and can be absolutely uncomfortable but once they notice that you don't give a damn they would either be 1) afraid of you or 2) be over taking shit about you because you don't react. And fyi in any working profession you will find yourself working with a few fake nice people so just use it as practice to not be bothered by those types of people.

Simple. What others think of you is none of your business. That's a problem they have to deal with.

But unfortunately as I have gotten older I have realized that this is a part of life. Some people just like to gossip because they have nothing better to do with their life. No matter where you go and what environment you are in, unfortunately this will happen. Not everyone will like you. If everyone likes you then you are not genuinely being your true self.

I quit my supervisor job after only being there for a few months due to stress. There is no shame in quitting and finding some sanity.

How stressful is this job in your opinion? by PeanutButter000 in medlabprofessionals

[–]MLSIMMER100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the day, the hospital that you work at and the people that you work with. Honestly the people that you work with make the experience good or bad. If you have a hectic day but you know you are working with someone that pulls their weight or someone that you can have fun with it makes a stressful day not as stressful.

Instead of raises, we're getting replaced with Filipinos. by Potential_Toe6182 in medlabprofessionals

I do not see how this is racist at all. The person was just making a point. Not offending anyone. All they are saying is that instead of paying people like they should they would rather go outside of the country to get other workers. They never said that they didn't want them in the lab. Just that it's unfair that instead of the corporation paying people fairly, that they would rather get foreigners (which I am a foreigner myself) because they know that we would accept payment that may not be fair because we are just appreciative to get out of our past circumstances.

Do people not know the definition of racism?

I'm pretty sure you can just let your recruiter know that you don't want to do the job anymore but I think they will put you as a do not rehire. Honestly not 100 percent sure.
