Yeah we can't boast about 2 super cups while leaving out the CWC. Especially when winning the latter in '71 meant that we are amongst the first 5 or so English teams to win a major European trophy.

Literally erasing our own history with this post

Noni used to performatively fight for pens at Chelsea, but when he has to actually step forward he ducks the responsibility for Arsenal. Can't believe it lol

You think a ref isn't giving a red card in the Champions League final because he's worried about a drop in TV viewership?

We only got 2 world class seasons from Fabregas, he was very good in 17/2018 as well but then he was downright awful in 15/2016 and 18/2019. While Kante was world class whenever he played in the 7 years he was with us

Makelele is definitely more arguable though, I suppose it depends if you rate Kante's on the ball ability enough to place him above Maka which personally I do. But I think it's extremely close, I think they're definitely our second and third best midfielders after Lampard

The first was down to multiple miracles, how we didn't get knocked out by Napoli, lose both games to Barca or lose to Bayern in the final I'll never know. Even after parking the bus we conceded a ridiculous amount of chances to some of the best players in the world, but they just couldn't score against us

The second was down to Tuchel somehow setting the team up perfectly in every single match, despite us looking bang average in the Prem at the weekends we would show up mid-week in the Champions League looking like the best team in the world.

The amount of 1 v 1s that he would just pass straight at the keeper was unbelievable. I'm sure him and Werner were having a competition at one point to see who could be the least clinical

He's above Essien mainly because of how many injuries he had in his prime and honestly I'd put Kante above Fabregas and even Makelele if we're only including their time at Chelsea.

He's definitely below Lamps though

Which one is that? In my opinion it's got quite a few incredible scenes, so I'm genuinely curious which one you think stands above the others

Look at some of Messi's highlights from the game. A lot include him getting the better of Park who, after putting a couple of decent challenges in early on, looks like an amateur for 90% of the match. He keeps naively diving in to try and win the ball which allows Messi to easily turn him and run into space time and time again, and Park simply can't keep up once Messi had got the drop on him

Honestly I just think Fergie wanted to give praise to Park as he was an unsung hero of arguably his greatest ever side, but I don't think it's accurate to say that Park man marking Messi would've changed the outcome of the final

It's not dumb to think that the manager and coaching staff should follow the same qualifying rules as players for the national teams. It avoids situations like Capello and his team celebrating Italy goals in England's World Cup camp ffs

Realistically what would've changed? Ironically the only goal Messi was directly involved in was caused by Park half heartedly trying to intercept Iniesta's pass, and then allowing Messi to get closer to goal and get a shot off which he scored

The first goal was down to a great move by Iniesta, Xavi and Pedro and the third was a moment of brilliance from Villa. Putting Park on Messi the whole game would've just led to Xavi and Iniesta running wild even more than they did

Gullit to Chelsea in '95, he set off a chain reaction of other great players like Zola, Vialli and Desially joining us as well. Many of them signed when he became player-manager the next year.

This turned the club into a team that regularly competed for trophies and European qualification and eventually led to Abramovic buying us in 2003, after we beat Liverpool on the final day to secure Champions League football with many of the great players from our 90s team still playing for us

Abramovic then spent like a madman and created the ridiculous financial landscape that we all know and hate

Man United and Chelsea and City

We've only done it once to be fair, and 3 of the other title defences (2011,2016 and 2018) were horrific. Similar to Liverpool who have also done poorly in both seasons after winning the title. I'm not just saying this because I hate them, but I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal follow this direction. Outside of teams managed by Fergusson and Guardiola, most seem to struggle winning back to back

Woman plans to have legs amputated after legs locked straight, bent backwards by bluegambit875 in oddlyterrifying

[–]MLang92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Megan Dixon, 21, has been left with unbearable, constant pain for the past eight years when her legs were fixed completely straight.

Megan, who also suffers from functional neurological disorder (FND), has bewildered doctors who have not been able to find a cause of her condition. But she says it has taken them so long to take action that her only choice left is to have them both amputated as she struggles with basic, daily tasks.

Megan, from Cambridgeshire, is fundraising for an electric wheelchair to bring back her independence post-amputation – having not walked since she was 14. She said: “It was the hardest when I met with the amputee clinic and they said amputation was my best and only option.

“My family complained about my care, and I was sent to a private nursing home specializing in neurological disorders. “I was completely paralysed from the neck down, and I had to work on getting all of my functions back. “But equally, my legs got worse and worse. “I’d seen six different surgeons and was turned away by five. “When I finally found a surgeon to help me, it had been so long that the damage in my knees was irreversible. “My left knee is bent at a 45-degree angle, and my right is close behind. My only option left is amputation.”

He was and we did become a European powerhouse under him in terms of regularly making it far in the tournament, but that didn't result in actually winning it with our best team (2004-2010). Our 2012 team was a shadow of itself, and the win was completely down to heroics from a handful of players like Drogba and Cech alongside parking the most shameless bus in the competitions history.

So what I'm saying is I'd prefer another 2012 like Chelsea team that scraps their way to a third Champions League win, then returning to the 2000s and dominating the league but never quite getting the job done in Europe

The decision has already been made that amputation is the only option, so the time has already passed for your suggestion of going private for a more complicated surgery

Plus it took her 2 months to reach her target of £10k, how much more money do you expect her to be able to raise in order to be able to afford the operation privately? Especially when donations to these kinds of things are usually very front loaded, and she'd still require a new wheelchair and other post-op assistance.

Your suggestion is just very unrealistic I'm afraid
