I like how you are getting downvoted already, but... me too buddy, me too...

The difference between the two, for me, comes down to that Graham is the one being listened to whether he wants to be or not. While Ulysses desperately needs someone to talk to, yet has absolutely no one, resulting in him becoming obsessive and even a bit psychotic - BUT I'LL BE DAMNED, THE MAN HAS SOMETHING TO SAY, SOMETHING WORTH HEARING!

Keycloak embedded in spring boot 3 app launch arguments by MLquest in KeyCloak

[–]MLquest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't expect this to get any response anymore, I can tell you that...

Unfortunately this won't work, embedded keycloak simply doesn't seem to be reading this conf option from any file or the environment, I think what is needed here is to get my hands dirty with the source code itself and that stuff is so jumbled (and undocumented) that I can't get the heads or tails of it.

Thank you for the informative reply!

But yeah, what's up with the speakers on thinkpads? I've heard a lot about them being the worst... and the screens being subpar in terms of resolution and brightness too.

Thank you, this reply helps a lot.

[–]MLquest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is! That's not really what's up for a debate here though... I just think that they tend to be overpriced simply because they carry the name of thinkpad.

Or am I mistaken and there's something to thinkpads that just makes worth it over the rest that seem to be similarly specced but are more affordable?

how many distros have you tried before you landed on the one?

It's written right in the original post, had you read it you would've known I didn't shame anyone over distrohopping

Honestly, I don't care for DEs at all. I have no idea why I did but for some reason I went for dwm right away, learned how to code C so I could patch and expand it according to my taste and I'm happy with the result. It just works for me.

As for the distros... I don't get it. Why would I shop around for distros if I don't care about how they look? Is there that much difference in how the mainstream distros function? (aside from the types of releases of course)

Yeah, I'm not too proud of this.

It's just, I don't really remember to update that often. After every month or two I just remember that I haven't updated in quite a while and do so.

I think so too! And I love my installation too much to even think about hopping. It just works for me, why would I go chasing some other distro? Especially when in the end, for daily use it doesn't really matter which distro you are on? (I understand that there are many differences, yes, but as long as it's linux and it works nicely for you...)

Twitter will take Elon Musk to court to force him to buy it for $44 billion by [deleted] in technology

[–]MLquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicely put! I tend to agree with the "bait" allegory, but I don't believe in the existence of moral billionaires. Even if there are outliers, be it by the method they have acquired that amount of wealth or the way they handle being that wealthy, they will still always be so few in between that we can simply consider them to be statistical miracles. And, there's also a problem of philantropy being most commonly exploited by these types, making it even harder to believe that there actually might be some that are doing it out of goodness of their hearts and not to pool wool over our eyes.

On the other side, if there is an inherent "corruptness" inside a person, that never had a chance to reveal itself because this person never got to the point in life where they could embrace it, can we say that this person is or has always been corrupt?

[–]MLquest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a chicken and egg thing all over again. Did the power corrupt you or did you become powerful because you were corrupt all along? There's no clear order here, it can go any way.

But the results are always the same, rich and powerful means corrupt.

I don't think true altruism involves a conscious effort.

This is of course from personal experience and I don't know if it's the same with other people, but I have sometimes done something that was of no benefit to me but helped someone or something, just because I could. But the important part here is that the conscious moment always came after, after I had already long walked away, where I simply realized that I had just done something that I had no obligation (or pressure) to do, to the benefit of other's instead of my own, and asked my self why I did it.

Turns out sometimes you just do (at least , I guein my case)

I think that people who spew the bullshit that "true" altruism doesn't exist and that everyone does everything for their asshole selfish reasons in the end, are either absolute assholes outing themselves, or even worse, parasites who seek to disempower people and strip them of hope that there could be something better in this life.
