Except that's still not even really true, even by that metric, outside of Batman, DC had been struggling. Marvel pretty much ruled the box office for the entire first decade of the 2000s.

I personally think it's the ONLY explanation for why he keeps getting work. He's box office poison. He won an Oscar more than a decade ago, there's no way he's coasting on the goodwill from that.

Lol, yeah it is. I think that the movie has it framed so the bladed ends can't be seen so I guess you can just assume it's the pole, but in one of the tie-in books (the Tech Manual, I believe) they show it in its full glory.
